Ideas needed for little going back to school gifts - not stationery

Can anyone help me out. I’m putting together a little going back to school package for a 4 year old. So far all I’ve got is s smart socks with the trims in school colours. At this age they don’t really have pencil cases or stationery. Doesn’t need a new lunchbox/water bottle. I’m stumped. I only want a few little things really but have come back from the city centre empty handed. Tia

Thanks Southern clips is a good idea. Can’t give hug as am at other end of the country and won’t see her before she goes back.

A keyring or similar to hang on her bag to help her identify it in the cloakroom.

How about a cuddly toy keyring to attach to school bag, book bag or gym kit bag so they can easily see which one if theirs?

This sort of thing.

Great minds millie Grin

A bookmark for her reading book.

millefiori that’s so cute. She would love that. Thank you.

Pretty name tag stickers to put on all her things? Something from where you are for her to ‘show and tell’. My DD has some LOL doll tissues just for her which she takes to school and she loves.

And a bookmark also good idea Woolly thanks.

This might come across as a bit corny, but one of the nicest presents I was ever given was "love in a box": it was a really pretty little wrapped up (empty) box with a bow on it, with a little poem on the outside, and the idea was that whenever I picked it up, I would think of the person who'd sent it to me, and know that they loved me. I've seen variations over the years, some with hearts or little ribbon flowers inside. So what about something along the lines of "a hug in a box"?

You’ve all been so helpful. So far I’ve ordered a keyring bag charm and a bookmark. Now going to look for ‘love in a box’ ideas cannycat though I might be able to make one .

Another nice thing could be worry dolls. Explain that sometimes school is a bit difficult or tiring and you can tell the doll what worries you, stick it under your pillow and the doll does your worrying for you, so you can get a good night's sleep. Not totally upbeat but it might be useful for reception DC to realise it's OK to have bad days etc.

My "love in a box" was hand-made, which made it all the more special. I carried it with me for years and years until it sadly disintegrated. I do love the idea of the worry doll as well though, thinking back to when I was that age and at school (I can just remember, if I scrunch my face up and close my eyes really tightly). And I did have a soft toy panda I used to tell all my thoughts to when I got home. He also disintegrated....
