Dcat ate birthday cake

So my overly greedy cate has eaten my daughters left over birthday cake and is currently running circles around the living room. Should I take her to the vets or wait and see if she calms down.

It is completely my fault for leaving it out because she eats everything she can get her claws on.

Dont blame yourself. Shes on a sugar high. What sort of cake was it, I'd call the vet nurse for advice just in case shes eaten something that cats shouldnt

Cats are weird, they always get into everything. It will be the sugar, I'd be tempted to give the vets a call and just ask their advice. Mine got her head stuck in a desert pot, there wasn't much left but she went to town, was tearing up and down the stairs all evening. She was fine though, I'd just check with them that there wasn't anything in it that could do her any harm.

No advice but LOL !!
I’m just imagining the situation Grin

In all seriousness though I think the cat will be fine. Just tired after his sugar high 😄

Is it chocolate? If so you need to get vet advice.

If not, the chances are that kitty will be fine. Possibly a bit sick or the runs.

Vets are pretty good about giving simple advice if you phone them up and ask a question.

Unless it was lily cake she’ll be fine. Might do some insane poohs thought .

YesQueen · 23/08/2019 13:32

Probably fine. Mine has eaten everything from cabbage to jacket potatoes HmmGrin

MitziK · 23/08/2019 13:37

Chocolate - to the vet right now.

Dried fruit - to the vet right now.

Not either of the above - call the vet.

Draculahhh · 23/08/2019 14:30

It was like a sponge cake, it's the buttercream shes eaten. The speed race has calmed down a bit thankfully.

I'd put extra water bowls out and keep the bedroom doors closed until deposit has been made in the litter box if I were you!

Mine once ate a cheesecake - the results were, er, interesting. My pet insurance has a helpline, yours might too.

Frownette · 23/08/2019 15:04

I wish I could have seen that!

Draculahhh · 23/08/2019 15:07

The vet said she should be fine but to take her in if she shows any unusual signs. Like a cat bouncing off the walls isn't weird enough lol I doubt she will learn her lesson, she ate a spicy curry out of the pan a few weeks before this. I've never seen a cat look so sorry for its self 😂

I had to buy a glass dome to be able to have a gingerbread house at Christmas. Has to be a tiny house, but at least we can make and display one because dd (and our food obsessed cat) love them.

WombleishOfThigh · 23/08/2019 15:13

One of mine was partial to nibbling the edge of sponge cakes left out to cool. He made a very pretty scalloped effect all the way around.

JohnWolfenstein · 23/08/2019 15:15

When my friends and I all turned 18 we had s tradition of making each other slightly crazy birthday cakes. One particular friend was really touched by this as he had never been made a birthday cake before. We had some cake and then left it in the kitchen and were watching a movie in the living room. I went back in later to find the cat had eaten half the bloody cake!! He was an insane cat, loved crisps and chocolate buttons, which he probably shouldn't have been eating Blush I didn't tell my friend, just cut the affected area off and out it in a box. He was none the wiser and the cat loved to the grand old age of 24, so can't have done him any harm.

Cailleach · 23/08/2019 17:29

Cats can't taste sugar - it was the cream in the buttercream wot did it.

PS: your cat is epic.

Draculahhh · 23/08/2019 18:34

I love her to pieces, but she is an epic pain in the bum. She is now on a sugar crash and can barely peel herself off the sofa.

:) She's on comedown from her drugs spree! She needs ambient music

StinkinDrink · 23/08/2019 19:18

🤣 oh I hope she's ok! My cat does not entertain human food at all, I could leave a 3 course meal spread on the kitchen floor and she wouldn't touch it!

AlexaC · 23/08/2019 19:35

I caught my cat licking a frozen chicken nugget recently. And once ripped into a pack of roast beef Hula Hoops. They are strange creatures!

Hope your cat recovers from their sugar binge soon!
