11 Year old pocket money?

I’m trying to gauge how much pocket money is about right for DS. He’s 11 next month. His pocket money is for sweets, comics, stickers, save for bigger stuff etc Lego kits.

I pay for his sports clubs, Scouts and music lessons, music, guitar strings etc.

He is about to go to middle school (Y6-8). School is literally across the road so no travel expenses, although he does have to pas s sweet shop! He’s just got a phone, so we can keep in touch with him after school. We will pay for that too.

I think rather than choosing an arbitrary anount you might be better thinking about exactly what you think is reasonable for him to aggord. You mention sweets, magazines and stickers. So i would allow for: 1 lots of sweets per week (£1) , 2 pack stickers per month (assuming football or similar 2@£3 each) and one mag per month @ £5. That comes out at roughly £4 perweek ish. I would worry that £2 wouldn't really cover what you mention

I would also add that i think it should be enough so it gives them the incentive to save - but that it is achievable. My dd knows that if she wants something 'big' that is say £30, she needs to save for 10 weeks - it is challenging but not totally out of reach on £3 a week.
