All of the above and also write a personal letter to the actual Dr .

Letter to their Chief Exec and/or post feedback on care opinion site. A lot of trusts utilise/read/respond to feedback there.

Yes absolutely you can write to the CEO (and the doctor himself of course). They will be delighted to hear positive feedback.

I think a personal letter to the doctor would be lovely and a copy also to the consultant who is the head of their department.

Email the hospital PALS team. I’ve done this and got a response from the ceo thanking me.
I also thanked the behind the scenes people who made things happen, one doctor is supported by a huge under valued team from cleaners, to cooks and pharmacy assistants and all sorts of technicians and under admin assistants.

I sent a card to my gynea's secretary when my DD turned 1 to thank him for seeing me through a difficult time early on in pregnancy and looking after me throughout. recieved a wonderful note back and will treasure that forever.

On another occasion I wrote naming 3 nurses that had given me wonderful care when I needed a dressing changed daily at my local walk in clinic, and I got a letter back thanking me from their manager, mentioning how they were thrilled to have something naming them to support their continual professional development and registration.

I’d write to the Doctor directly and cc the letter to CEO or PALs service at the trust. A family member is a medic, it’s often such a thankless job and it really really makes all the shit days worth it when he gets a card,
You won’t look like a stalker, it will be greatly appreciated and you will absolutely make their day,
So glad you’ve had a positive experience Smile

After I had DD I was so overwhelmed with gratitude towards the two midwives who delivered her that I wrote to them and every single person up the chain of command to the hospital CEO BlushGrin.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 22/08/2019 18:26

Make sure you send it directly to the doctor as well as CEO etc.

Doctors are quitting in droves, we need to boost them!

A personal letter to the doctor and a briefer one to the consultant who could then share it more widely.
If you just contact the trust /Ceo I would be concerned that it may get lost in the system and the doctor wouldn't get the deserved praise.

I wrote to my consultant after DS2 and I survived a very tricky time when he was born. I made sure to thank everyone who had had a part in it (well almost),asking for thanks to be passed on.
I got a very nice reply from the consultant, which I hadn't expected, and which I still have.
