Honestly I don't even know anymore. They just have a huge tub to throw them in and as long as they're in there I turn a blind eye.

DD1 (12) is a football playing fashion diva so has all the necessary football boots for all surfaces plus a variety of boots/shoes/slip ons/trainers/sliders/sandals. Because she her feet haven't changed size much at all in the last three years we also have all the older shoes still living in the tub for when we visit my family...then she has a selection of scruffier things to wear for meandering through whatever mucky field she can find.

DD2 (6) is a hoarder. Anything that becomes too small for DD1 gets inherited unless I get in there first irrespective of the condition. She also has new things bought for her when necessary. Mercifully her feet actually grow at a normal rate so I can at least cull her collection more frequently than DD1.

They could both easily wear a different pair for each day of the week and still have choice at the end of the week. None of this is helped by my mother in law who spots nice shoes/sandals and buys them.

My husband goes spare at how many they have, but at least there's no risk of them having to make do with a pair kept together with hope and sellotape unlike their mother as a child

Didn’t realize we were counting shoes from hobbies so dd 6 also has Irish dancing shoes and ballet shoes

Some of these lists are bloody INSANE by the way and imo TOTALLY unnecessary!!
