public transport obligations?

Hi, my daughter is pregnant and relies on the bus to travel to work. Fortunately the bus stops outside her home, however, she's been informed that due to roadworks the road will be closed for approx 4 months, meaning she will have to walk 20 - 30 mins to the bus station. There are no alternate bus's that run this route. Does the bus company or highways dept have a duty of care here to provide alternative transport for passengers who are pregnant / elderly / disabled and rely on the bus?

No, I don't think so. Not that I've heard of anyway.

Yes. Under the 2010 Equality act. They should have considered the impact and taken "reasonable endeavours" to mitigate it.

Start by asking for the relevant document - if it exists. (If it doesn't then they've already fallen foul of the 2010 EA). You should be able to do this by email as a Freedom of Information request, which gives them 28 days (?) to reply.

I had to do all that when a local authority blocked access to all their blue badge bays during renovations a couple of years ago. Turned out they had made quite a few arrangements, just nobody was aware of them. Which in our case was critical, as one of them was to suspend a no-right-turn after 6pm, which the police hadn't been told about.
