Help-need to stop dizziness fast

Posting in here for traffic. I absolutely have to get to work today but I've woken up and the world is just spinning. I can barely see to type this. It's abated a little bit but what can I do to calm things down quickly?

Travel sickness tablets? Some like phenergan help dizziness.
I think you need a GP though.

If it's that bad and not improving you need to see your GP/walk-in centre.

Do you feel sick? Any other symptoms?

homemadecommunistrussia · 20/08/2019 08:08

Please get proper medical advice and do not drive or cycle.

Coffee2sugars · 20/08/2019 08:09

Do you have an ear infection? My DH regularly gets bouts of vertigo and has dizzy spells. If this is possible then Google the Epley Movement, its a series of head movements that can stop the dizziness fairly quickly.

You can’t got to work if you are that dizzy. It is neither practical nor sensible. Phone your GP for an appointment ASAP and take a taxi there.

As others have said, if it's that bad then you can't drive and travelling by public transport doesn't sound like a good idea either. GP appointment for you soonest.

There's a vertigo bug going around. 3 unconnected cases I know of in SE London. GP can check ears, prescribe anti-dizziness pills. One case needed 2 weeks off work, mainly because couldn't cope with travelling in the rush hour but also because looking at a screen made it worse. Other two recovered in a few days.

Mega sympathies. Just the thought of it makes me feel queasy.

You need stemetil! Phone the GP and they will prescribe you some!

Sorry, never came back and updated. I got my mum to drive me to work (feel about 15 saying that!). Had a wobbly couple of hours then started to feel better. Had something to eat and felt much better.

I’ve had that a few times. Wonder if it’s dehydration or lack of sleep or low blood sugar maybe.
Horrible though isn’t it.

CustardCreamLover · 20/08/2019 19:17

I get it when I eat too much sugar the previous day. Not sure why but it never seems like a good thing!
