Any shops have self measuring for kids?

Need to get the dc feet measured and new school shoes bought, however Clarks are way outside of my budget. It seems incredibly rude to take dc there for measuring and then just get up and leave.

Any shops got those foot measure things I could use and browse without an assistant hovering for sales?

Just measure them yourself at home, get them to stand on paper on a hard surface to measure the length.
To do the width wrap a strip of paper around the widest part of their foot.

You can find charts online to convert length & width to shoe size.

And try and get some shoes without biocide in the lining! (See my other thread Smile)

I got my toddlers measured at clarks and then didn't buy shoes from there. It's not rude, they're providing a free, no-obligation service!

mmm so do You pretend to browse then just say nothing you like? Or do you just get up and walk out?

I always use Clark's. Don't always buy from there. We try a few styles on, but often they aren't suitable. They are used to it and there's no obligation to buy. My DD measured differently in Schuh, JL & Clark's last week. A whole size different. Clark's were the closest as they are digital.

Just go to the shop you're planning to get them from and remove and check on the insoles of the shoes themselves.

Honestly Clarkes is so busy at the moment they probably won't even notice if you buy or not. Ours has a measuring queue with one lady who writes the size down, and you go to a different staff member for help.

Clark’s won’t measure you if you don’t buy from there. I have left the shop without shoes but they usually ask which shoes you like first and then they want to order them. It’s not a free service. Deichmann let you measure yourself.

Last time I let the Clarks assistant show me a few pairs then made up a lame excuse about forgetting my debit card and escaped across the road to Matalan. It’s important to have the right size, I wouldn’t want to guesstimate with a piece of paper.

I bought one of the clark measuring tools. It's been brilliant. Now I just order two or three sizes around what the calculator says and get DCs to try them all on in the house and pick their favourite then send the rest back. No more queuing in Clarks or meltdowns or whining anymore.

M&S have a measuring tool in the children’s show dept, for customers to use themselves. It’s not an attended service; the shoes are all out on display in the sizes.

Our Clark’s measure children’s feet without expecting you to buy. My DS has very slow growing feet so I regularly get his feet measured but if his feet haven’t grown and he’s happy with his shoes, I don’t buy new. I say that, they are happy. Never had an issue.

I bought a measuring tool online for about £10. Search amazon.

We have measured without buying in Clarks many times. Often I was to measure them to see if their feet have grown. If they haven’t then I’m not buying new shoes!
Asda has a self measure.

And whichever shoes you buy, check that they haven’t been treated with biocides or anti bacterial stuff, as so many shoes seem to be at the moment.

It’s not a guesstimate, rulers are the same everywhere!

Of course you don't have to buy if you get feet measured there. What if feet haven't grown? I've often gone and had them measured to check if they had grown and when told what size they were confirmed they therefore don't need new shoes and thanked them.

I know Deichmann do. I use them to measure ds's feet when buying shoes for him.

I get mine measured at Clarks then tell the assistant a white lie e.g I’m going to look online.
Honestly don’t worry.
