I have been skiing before with school when all I had to do was get on a bus and it was all sorted, DH and the kids have skied a few times on artificial slopes in the UK. We would like to go on a proper ski holiday with snow and mountains etc but it seems so complicated. Is there a company that will organise it all I.e lift passes, ski hire, lessons etc for us without charging the earth. Also are there any resorts where we can do other things such as sledging, ice skating etc so it's not just skiing all day, everyday?

Go with Crystal and get them to put it all together for you. No hassle at all. Love them to be honest.

May I recommend the Italian Dolomites. Selva Val Gardena in particular.

Have been to Italy twice with Crystal and had no complaints.

Depends on your budget, the package tour companies offer complete packages and if you go into branch your travel agent can walk you through it but it comes at a price. Another option if you are finding it overwhelming is to do your first trip to Scotland, no flights to deal with, book the Hilton family suite half board and the Cairngorm resort ski page is really easy to navigate, everything was booked through the ski school (lessons, hire and pass)

There is a skiing topic in the travel pages
You'll get plenty of advice there.

There are many, many companies that do it all for you! Depends where you want to go really, but the big companies like Inghams and Crystal do loads of resorts in different countries, so take a look at their websites as a starting point. There are also family specialists like Mark Warner, Ski Scott Dunn, Ski Famille, Family Ski Company, etc, and many smaller companies that just do one or two resorts. The more specialist you go, the more expensive it is, but as a general yardstick I would allow £1000pp/pw and in school holidays you shouldn't go far wrong (the posher companies will be more that that).

And yes, many resorts (particularly the bigger ones) will have tobogganing, skating, curling, etc as well. Les Gets is good for families and has a proper town, as well as access to a big ski area.

We have been with Crystal and (I prefer) neilson.Others swear by ski esprit. Like so much in life it depends on your budget.
