Know any deserving places to donate craft materials direct?

We're having a big clear out. We have a decent quantity of cute stickers, LOADS of beads, patterned craft papers, fabric quarters etc etc. My dc would like them to go to some deserving cause rather than dumped in a charity shop - where to be honest, they're not really sellable. But as a resource for some place that needs supplies I think they'd be ok. I do worry about the beads though as they're small. Does anyone have any ideas I can follow up? Many thanks.

I have recently donated some to an organisation that runs an after school club.

I work in a hospice and they take donations of craft stuff for the patients to use during diversional therapy. Maybe contact your local hospice to see if they can use it.

Local brownies / cubs / beaver pack would probably take them .

Museums! (Mine will take them if you are willing to post!) - we get naff all funding but do loads of craft activities with children. Anything we can't use either our craft group volunteers make a donation for them or they get passed on to organisations who do craft for charity. Decent fat quarters for example some of our craft volunteers are making quilts for children in hospital. Wool for neonate hats or twiddlemuffs etc etc.

Local schools, playgroups or nurseries.

Also, is there a children's hospital nearby? They always have a craft cupboard that needs topping up but seem to be last on the list for donations!

Any school, afterschool club, brownie/cub pack would probably bite your hand off for craft supplies. They are so useful but speaking from experience as a teacher the costs for resources for large groups really do add up. I'm sure they would be very grateful for a donation of craft supplies.

A local hospice would probably love to have them

Libraries in this area run craft sessions - alternatively cubs/brownies/after school clubs/schools.

I used to work in a childrens psychiatric unit. These type of donations were always well received.

YeOldeTrout · 18/08/2019 16:26

Could look for local quilting groups for the fabric quarters; many make quilts for charity.

nedtherobbot · 18/08/2019 17:02

For fat quarters see if anyone locally is part of the rare bear army. They make unquie bears for children with rare genetic conditions.

Local church kids club? Around here we have Friday club were kids (of all religions) come to do crafts and games on Friday evening. The volunteers buy the craft stuff themselves (I know because my mum is one), so they'd be very grateful

tatyr · 18/08/2019 17:37

If that's not enough ideas^ your local women's refugee would probably welcome them to. Ours does craft type activity groups with women and their children
