What was the craze for bungalows all about? and now, do they still build swathes of estates with bungalows?

because now you tend to assume they house older people.
i lived in a bungalow as a child
do they only build occasional bungalows now?

Dorma = brand of bedding
Dormer = architectural feature (eg window projecting from roof)

Why do people keep saying "dorma bungalow"? It's dormer Confused

And they are desirable and hold their value because they are no longer being built (or very rarely being built) due to the price of land.

Have lived in bungalows for most of my married life. Started with 1 bed detached in 1979 when we were in our 20s as we didn't want a flat and they just got bigger until we returned from living abroad in a 5 bed single story farmhouse and purchased a large 2 bed as our downsize which should see us outGrin.

I love bungalows, so easy to clean and heat. Great with small children. It's also comforting to know I won't have to move again if I start to suffer from mobility issues as I get older. If I did move again it would only be to another bungalow. All the bungalows in my area are owned by over 50s.

I really wanted to buy a bungalow when we were house hunting as we were moving from a ground floor flat and I loved everything being all on the same level.

However we also wanted to be close to the city centre and all the bungalow type houses were more suburban so it didn't happen.
