My child is with his dad this weekend. Im feeling sad
i needed the break this week has bean bad
Ive had chills and joint pains all week. Ive been alone with my child so struggled to entertain him. My ex changed all his work schedule so ive had to take AL and do all drop offs for child and dog which amounts to over an hour journey before work. I'm now watching the minions

Didn’t want to read and run.
I m a single parent too and my ds has been with his dad this afternoon. I always love it when he returns, house is so empty without home, I’d that how you’re feeling?
It’s hard work on your own.

MerryXmasNoelle · 17/08/2019 21:05

i like doing things on my own and struggle to fill the time with him

You’re probably just a bit burnt out- don’t beat yourself up. Early night and plan a nice breakfast tomorrow. I used to like going to a cafe and reading the paper quietly all morning- it felt social and got me out without feeling like I had to be ‘on’

Maybe we can suggest some ideas.

Am feeling sad too, my daughter is with her dad all weekend and I was meant to meet a friend for drinks, she cancelled on me last minute with a crap excuse. So feeling pretty lonely and unloved. It's hard work being a single parent, however much you love them you look forward to having a bit of free time, then when that's shit it feels even worse. Flowers

Have you got much support? Anyone you can talk to?

MerryXmasNoelle · 17/08/2019 21:55

Maybe you need to tell people how low you're feeling and how you're struggling. People will want to help if you let them. Do it for your son if not for yourself.

QuinoaWest · 17/08/2019 22:03

Just to say I'll reply properly in a.m.

Really hope you get some rest x

MerryXmasNoelle · 17/08/2019 22:05

Can you book yourself in for a manicure/massage/facial?

You are feeling like your only role is as mummy/employee. It is common with DC of 2. But you are also YOU and you need some time to reconnect with yourself.

I usually get ill etc the second I get any breathing space from mumdom. You may be coming down with something x

MerryXmasNoelle · 17/08/2019 22:17

i havent felt well since DS was born but the GP fobs me off all the time. I wish i had the money to go private

OP posts:
GeriAtric · 17/08/2019 23:50

Can you see a different gp at the practice? You may find a more sympathetic one. You shouldn't have to put up with feeling sad all the time.

GeriAtric · 17/08/2019 23:51

What kinds of things bring you enjoyment / happiness?

MerryXmasNoelle · 18/08/2019 07:01

Going out and getting drunk with mates makes me happy but theres not much of that anymore

QuinoaWest · 18/08/2019 12:45

Hi again.

Really sounds like you're at a low ebb.

I agree with PP: see another GP at your practice. You shouldn't have to suffer alone with no support.

Advice from other single parents who will 'get it', on the Gingerbread forum

Is there a chance you could make a mutual arrangement with a RL friend to have regular FaceTime/Skype at the end of a tough day? Vent your feelings together?

Meantime, these might help if you get stuck:

  1. (for when you're not feeling great, and want least effort/clear-up)

Surprise your DS when he arrives home with a basic indoors tent (sheets over clothes airer/ chairs-type), loads of snuggly cushions etc. and cuddle up together for a story.

Really hope things improve for you
