Euro Disney

Looking to take dd away to Euro Disney. I was looking at some of the Disney hotels but have read some negative reviews. My main criteria is that it is clean. Anyone stayed in alternative accommodation to the Disney hotels but with relatively easy access to Disney - any hidden gems? Saying that it must be clean is important but it must also be relatively family friendly too.

Anyone?

I've stayed at the ibis at val d'europe and it was fab - clean, cheap and exactly what we needed. Every morning we got the train to DLP within five minutes for a few euros. We were travelling as a couple though so it might not be 'magic' for kids.

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 16/08/2019 19:49

Sequioa Lodge, Newport Bay and Disneyland Hotel are all clean.

If you are looking offsite My Explorers is a peetty good bet. Although i think this days so are most of the associate hotels.

Do bear in mind though the benefits of staying onsite are massive. The best time for getting rides done is during extra magic hours and I'd much rather pay the extra to walk to my accommodation than dealing with shuttle buses. We make good use of the shopping service and Eurostar luggage service too

Lindy2 · 16/08/2019 19:52

We've stayed at the two more basic Disney hotels (Santa Fe and Cheyenne) and both have been perfectly clean.
If it's within budget then a Disney hotel is definitely the most convenient as they are walking distance to the park and you get to go in early.

Yeah, i hadnt stayed or visited the NY sante Fe or Cheyenne, so could only vouch for the others. But i never get people saying they're dirty they just aren't.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 16/08/2019 20:07

I usually stay in a Newport Bay but we tried Sequoia Lodge last time. Both perfectly clean. Advantage with a Disney hotel is that you get extra time in the parks first thing in the morning before the non hotel guests can get in.

Gobbolinocat · 16/08/2019 20:25

All the the hotels in the the area are partner Disney hotels. They were all built at the same time for Disney and have a free shuttle.

We had annual pass, magic plus and stayed at hotel eylesse. Google reviews. Small ish, clean, newly refurbished, decent on site restaurant. Close to massive auchen supermarket and bolongerie. Fridge in room. No Disney on site have a fridge!

Every day we had fresh baguette and wondeful food.
Highly recommended it. Checked in instantly, no queues, good room size. We loved it. The pass got us emt, immediate entry unlike hotel guests on site in massive queue. Free push chairs, parking and money off some food and all merch.

Gobbolinocat · 16/08/2019 20:28

The shuttle goes opposite hotel door and its the first stop, it shares with adagio and apartment hi Park. It always had room. Hotel elysee is first stop so always had seat. It drops by vapoiano just at Disney gate egde. 5 min a
Walk from there into actual park.
Some on site hotels are good 10 15 min walk from hotel to gate

Gobbolinocat · 16/08/2019 20:30

Oh yes and not only has it got free shuttle but its also directly opp train station which is one stop to park. We went to Paris one day.

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 16/08/2019 20:42

All club level rooms at Disney hotels have fridges (Sequioa Lodge Golden Forrest, Compass club, castle club)

You only get EMH outside the Disney Hotels with an annual pass, you need the magic plus pass

www.disneylandparis.com/en-gb/annual-passes/

Gobbolinocat · 16/08/2019 20:46

Our hotel averaged 75 euro a night without breakfast, we got cereal and milk in fridge etc. How much extra is club room for fridge 😂.

We had magic plus. We were in before on site guests because it has special entrance and it was never a queue.

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 16/08/2019 20:57

@Gobbolinocat I only corrected one factual error in what you said and clarified another point. Noone picks club level for the fridge, but the other benefits of club level are pretty awesome.

I personally would avoid anything that requires transport too or from the parks like the plague, especially with small children, or anyone with mobility or sensory issues. But i cant ever claim to have only spent £75 a night on accomodation either.

Daphnesmate · 16/08/2019 21:03

Gobbolin, just checked that hotel...it is booked for the dates that we are potentially looking at, so any other suggestions welcome.

Daphnesmate · 16/08/2019 21:04

Volcan...yes public transport would be a bit of a nightmare for us because we have two young dcs.

Seriously my explorers is lovely for the pool and indoor play equipment but mainly the breakfast (if its still as good as it was!!). If i went off site i would go back there, or Gobbos one because you can take a train. BUT i found the shuttles were traumatising with a pushchair and just waiting at the bus stop after the evening parade (it was a while ago) took way longer than the 10-15min walk to the hotel. From what ive heard its not much better now.

Id personally swerve Sante Fe, ive heard good things about Cheyenne. Sequioa Lodge is my Disney home, i like the low sensory environment, accessibility and all round atmosphere. Personally not Keen on Newport Bay, its too bright and fresh for me and the arrangement with the lift and rear park access is not so good for buggies (which might be relevant to you) and wheelchairs. Club Level golden forrest with its fast passes, quick breakfast room and afternoon tea is an absolute delight.Never got to try the New York. Weve eaten at DLH, on the whole i'm not sure that onesfor us either, but mobility issues are starting to get tge better of us so we are booked there next time.

If you go gor the pass option do your sums carefully. If your staying off site otherwise bear in mind when you do your sums that without EMH you need far more time to do the parks, you will hit far more queues (so pick your time of year carefully) and you need to be much more organised.

Gobbolinocat · 16/08/2019 22:00

Ok volcano calm down I was joking.
I've done tons of research on the hotels.

Pretty much everyone going to Disney will have young dc.
We had friends on site tramping further than we did staying at partner hotel and having to queue for ages to get into, in the morning.
I specifically mentioned the 3 hotels that shared our shuttle because on the other side, explorers etc is busier and has more shuttle issues.
But you could also do train or drive.
We, me are very fussy customer and our youngest is hard work..
We found it seamless and easy.
. Op if eylsee is booked try adagio and hi Park series

All had good reviews but just not as good as eyelsee.

Same with all other partner hotels, dream castle had good reviews, Vienna dream and the other one but elysee was best.. I'd seriously look at annual pass because it means you don't have to worry too much about the first trip as it needs planning.

Also, a long time ago op I posted on here about Disney and posters rushed on to tell me about efteling in Netherlands. After much research we went there first and fell in love. Efteling is a very special place and whilst I wouldn't really recommend on site Disney hotels I would for efteling because it's so beautiful.

It's more magical than Disney. My dc were still asking for it after a year at Disney. (we do really like Disney... But efteling is prettier, has more atmosphere etc).
Just passing it on Grin

TarragonSauce · 16/08/2019 22:06

I don't think you would have problems with the cleanliness at any of the Disney hotels.
For a first visit I always think the Disneyland Hotel can be recommended, for the following reasons, and of course if cost allows as it is the most expensive.
If driving, free valet parking is included.
If arriving by train, the hotel is 2 mins walk from the station.
For even one night, two days park entrance is included. Arrive 10am hand bags over and go straight into the parks. Next day, hand bags over to reception go straight to the parks.
Extra magic time means early entry to the parks.
Your room is just steps from Main Street, so easy to return to room for naps and then back out for the evening.
The rooms, whilst not themed, are very Disney. Even the bathroom mirrors have Snow White and the Seven Dwarves carved into them.

If you get a quote, remember to deduct the cost of two days' park passes in order to get a proper comparison with staying at an off-park place where you'll have to buy passes anyway.

SusieSusieSoo · 16/08/2019 22:13

We stayed Santa Fe it was very very basic but it was on site and you get to go into the park early which ime is really really worthwhile. If going again I would stay in one of the nicer hotels like Newport bay which would have been closer to go back for fireworks & I think had a pool so you could break up the day.

As I could only afford Santa Fe or nothing it was fine & ds loved it as Disney cars decorated! It was definitely clean & an easy & safe walk for me & pushchair into the parks xx

namby · 16/08/2019 22:16

Staying on site for the early magic hours is totally worth it. Santa Fe was very clean, and we got a free half board meal plan, we barely spent anything when there. 4 year old happily walked to and and from Santa Fe 7.30am-10pm. Though there is a bus too.

ShitUsername · 16/08/2019 22:16

We’ve stayed at Magic Circus twice with no issues, it’s offsite but has a free shuttle bus that runs to and from the main parks all day. Hotel is great for little ones, there’s a ball pit and some arcades inside and a play park outside. There’s a swimming pool as well but we never used it so couldn’t tell you what it was like!

Popsicle27 · 16/08/2019 22:51

We are here now and staying completely off site at the Mercure Paris Le Bourget, its 38mins away so you would have to drive here, we came over on ferry. But its so clean, family friendly and at £50 a night for a family of four, and an absolute steal, definitely makes it more affordable x

StylishMummy · 16/08/2019 23:11

We've stayed in Newport bay and New York, both are excellent and clean and the service is amazing. BUT it's £££££

Daphnesmate · 16/08/2019 23:41

I have just looked at efteling website and agree it looks fab but dd is into princesses and Disney at the moment so it is an ideal time to take her. Efteling is definitely one for the future though once we've done the Disney thing (and saved up a bit).

OP posts:
Daphnesmate · 16/08/2019 23:43

Popsicle...hope you have a lovely time there. We are planning to drive (via the tunnel I think) so off site wouldn't necessarily be a problem but I don't think I could cope with public transport because of the pushchair.

Thanks for all of your comments. If anyone else has any favourite hotels in or around Disney, I would be pleased to hear from you.

We got back 2 weeks ago and had a wonderful time and experience at Newport bay hotel. It was very hot and busy but not as bad as I thought it would be. We were there 6 days and didn’t have any problems.
