What's wrong with my tumble dryer?

I have a condenser dryer , Hotpoint .

A while ago, the heater broke, it still went round but even on high setting it was barely tepid.
We had it fixed but now it keeps stopping and beeping after barely 3-4 minutes.

Flashes warning lights for Filter and Water Container .

Container is empty
Filter at the bottom is clean
Filter in the door is empty .

But I took the base filter out there was water at the back.

I dried it with a cloth , felt around a bit .
Is there a pipe or something? I'm thinking the water isn't being tracked up to the bottle so the machine is switching off .

Anyone had this ? I cannot get round the back of it just now , its on a stacking shelf so I'll need help to turn it ,

TIA

It might be blocked with fluff (some can get through the filter), or perhaps the internal switch that detects whether the water container is full or not is stuck, so constantly registering full even when it isn't.

I haven't had the problem, but those are just things I know can go wrong.

We checked the back, the two tubes at the back seem clear and attached .
The back of the base filter is clear .

It just won't bloody run for more than 4 minutes Angry

It cost us £75 to have the heater fixed , I don't want to throw more money at it .

Your main problem is it’s a hotpoint.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/08/2019 19:55

Yes, I think it's the case Fluffycloud though I've had Hotpoint before and I;m sure it did the same but I took the water bottle out , dried it , made sure it was fully back in place and it worked . The lock kept springing open if I dried anything heavier than two towels .

One before this was a Bosch and it was a git of a machine . Handle sheared off , then the heater went then it basically stopped turning.
Sad
They aren't built to last .

I'm really hoping that I have got the answer to your problem.

If the impeller fan is broken then it won't pump the water from the condenser up to the bottle and even though the bottle is empty it keeps telling you that it is full and needs emptying.

This in turn tells the machine it shouldn't run so won't get hot and dry your clothes which is what you pay it to do.

Ebay and youtube is your friend here.

Impeller fan approx £4 and really REALLY easy to fit - it's just a little soft rubber fan - if you ebay it it tells you it is the "main" reason for dryers breaking.

Youtube video will show you how to fit it. My husband took mine apart but I am SURE I could have done it myself.

Please tell me if I am right! I was so pleased when I fixed mine for £4!!!

By the way impeller fan is tiny - size of a large coat button sort of thing - and you just slot it over a plastic pin thingy about the size of a drinking straw - no man needed LOL!

I had a similar problem with mine. Turned out a sachet of cat food (thankfully unopened!) had fallen down the side and was blocking the air vent!

Thanks - I'll look at the videos for the impeller fan .

Nothing under/behind it , the TD free stands on a wooden stacking shelf (made when I had the kitchen re-built )

I was looking a AO but TD are so Confused , I saw one I thought would fit the bill, but the reviews vary from one site to another .

If it isn't the impeller fan then it will have to go.
TBH , even when it did work it was one of those Know-It-All machines that declared my washing to be dry , but it wasn't . (I know some TD don't do bone dry because its difficult to get creases out , but I want to decide that myself )

Off to search.....
