If you live in an area where there are a lot of events going on.

Where are you? And what type of events are there?

I live just outside of a major UK city and I feel as though there's relatively little to do here. I'd love to live somewhere that has more events, festivals and markets.

Cambridge. Always something going on. I love it!

We do have events in my city of course but i drool with envy when I see what's going on in other parts of the UK.

Lots of food festivals, music festivals, sport festivals, activity festivals, fairs, ice rinks etc
Parkers Piece always has some sort of event on.

LochJessMonster · 16/08/2019 15:14

They can be expensive though if you want to go in the main tents

Edinburgh.
The festival is on.
It's a bloody nightmare, traffic is horrendous.
Looking forward to it being over 🤣

Edinburgh. I sometimes, wish there were fewer events going on. The Science Festival, the Film Festival, the Jazz Festival, the Book Festival, THE Festival, the Fringe, Edinburgh's Hogmanay. As Alexander McCall Smith said recently, the Edinburgh of the future will have no residents and an all year festival.

Market town in the SE, closely surrounded by villages. Non-stop events especially in the summer, nearly all small and local but a few bigger ones close by too.

AwesomePossums · 16/08/2019 15:23

I lived in Edinburgh for a while. Trying to get around during The Festival was definitely not fun I agree.

I was thinking more of smaller scale festivals, days and events. When it gets to that scale it can be anything but fun for the locals.

Cambridge sounds lovely, LochJessMonster.

I used to live in a big city
With stuff going on alllllll the time, all over the city
But we never went, it is expensive, parking is awful and the traffic was horrific!
And everything was absolutely rammed
shivers

Now we live in a small town and there is less stuff going on but the stuff that does happen is manageable and not over run so doable!
Things like local village fayres, little party in the parks etc I love them

But I've never been a festival type of person tbf, even food festivals, just not my thing!

AwesomePossums · 16/08/2019 15:28

That sounds perfect, TheSpellHasBeenBroken. I love smaller events like that.

👋 @midsomermurderess
My youngest hates new people, crowds, being out of her routine, the dark, loud noise.
We really should have moved out of Edinburgh years ago !
