Feel rubbish - tips for cheering oneself up?

Hello.

I'm feeling a bit flat and miserable at the moment (nothing major) and wondering if anyone had any tips on cheering up - or even treating yourself..

I've been thinking about a nice bath but it's so meh.. I can't eat anything nice because I need to lose about 2 stone.. CBA cleaning anything or actually leaving the house, to be honest..

I know I SHOULD go for a walk/swim/allotment dig but it feels a bit like a punishment rather than a nuturing activity..

Sorry you're feeling like this.

A bath is always lovely. Maybe take a book or magazine in with you.

Food wise, how about a punnet of raspberries or some lovely melon or mango?

A stomp around the local park or quiet cup of tea in a nice cafe?

A bit of exercise should help - something simple like a short walk or some weeding as you’re not wanting to do too much,
A chat with a friend is nice.
Watch a comedy or read a funny book.
Smell your kids heads. Does it for me.
Brew Flowers

Oh thank you for your replies!

It looks like I will have to drag my middle aged carcass out into the world at lunchtime.. Maybe I'll have a bath and put on make up in preparation - and i think i'll get some nice fruit (not too much though!) too..

Go shopping and buy something nice, fancy tea or make up or clothes or something for the house.
I also like to go online and research something for the day out or theatre trip. I did this yesterday (it’s tricky day) and found a show I’d like to see for my birthday next year.

What about getting into a really good book do you enjoy reading? I always find a good book is a great distraction and takes you to another place

Go to a different local attraction type place or garden or spot in the countryside or a gallery.

When I feel bleugh I either go to my brain clearing spot, where the wind blows through and clears the cobwebs, or do a bit of retail shopping, or accept it's a bleugh day and curl up with a dvd.

For a treat try freezing some pomegrante seeds, grapes, segments of fruit. Makes a good and low calorie 'mouth play / nibble' treat.

Also, have a kitchen dance!

drivingtofrance · 16/08/2019 10:36

Exercise always cheers me up. Especially if it's a group activity.

Failing that a good long walk with some treats to look forward to when you get home? Take the bath afterwards and dig out a nice novel to get into.

Woolyheads · 16/08/2019 11:09

Oh yes Remus, a kitchen dance. And or a singalong. Turn the music up loud!

I recommend a wonderful book called " the wonderful weekend book- reclaim life's simple pleasures" elspeth thompson. It has simple wisdom for appreciating the small joys in life.

Start planning next years holiday - that always cheers me up

There are lots of lovely low calorie things you can eat!

Treat yourself to some beautiful fruit, chill it, cut it up all pretty!

Make 'banana ice cream' - freeze bananas in a bag with skins off, blitz in a blender.. that's it! Makes the perfect consistency.

Make yourself a dip with philly, peas, garlic and herbs blitzed together, dip in some carrot/pepper/cucumber

Clear out your wardrobes or do a big clean with fun music! Always makes me feel great
