To wonder what country is the best to raise children?

The us/Canada thread has got me thinking. I've always fantasized about one day moving to one of them. But obviously canadas harsh winters and the USA gun problem.
And obviously the UK is an okay country free health care but the constant rain is abysmal. There isn't alot for kids to do most youth clubs childrens centres and community centres and libraries are gone due to funding and the parks always seem to get ruined and the councils dont bother fixing them so kids can actually use them. UK education seems to put alot of pressures on kids.
What do you think is the best country for family work life balance. Good education, healthcare local amenities parks recreation thing for kids and families to enjoy.

Possibly Australia or NZ? Not sure how they compare to continental Europe though

Switzerland is extremely safe, has clean air and beautiful scenery. It's so safe that 4 year olds often walk to nursery on their own!! The public transport is so extensive that most families don't own cars and the roads are much safer. I lived there for a while and would often see very young kids playing outside, going to the shops etc on their own. There is little crime. Also if you live in some of the larger cities most people speak good English which makes life easier while you're trying to learn their language. It's close to UK. If I was going to emigrate if go there.

Maybe just you local council isn't very good? We've got lovely parks with playgrounds, tennis courts and outdoor gyms, refurbished leisure centres and libraries. There's a council owned golf course, trampoline park etc there's a playsteet scheme for children to and play outside with the traffic closed off and generally tons going on. Not to mention all the non-council stuff available.

Oh, an ecology centre, a community farm, local museums offering activities for kids etc.

Canada, NZ, Continental Europe, Uruguay, Chile.

Plus I think it depends a lot on if you are immigrating or if its 'home' and you have extended family there. My friend who lives in Spain sometimes gets a bit lonely because there aren't many preschool type activities where she lives. OTOH If I moved back to rural Italy (where there's also nothing in the way of clubs) I've got about a dozen cousins with DC to hang about with.

I love where we live in uk-it has all the things you say are lacking in this country! I’d like to live in a more equal country, such as Iceland.
