I couldn't see another thread about this so I am starting this one.

Day started of really badly.DD2 in floods of tears having not got the A she needed for her preferred university.

We got dressed and set of for her school then went to her teacher who is also their UCAS lead. Teacher spoke for a bit then said." but you got what you needed didnt you?" dd2 goes " no I didnt" teacher looks confused them said "so did you go to clearing?" DD2 answers " I don't know I havent had an email" teacher looks confused and said "but I don't have you on my list" Que both teacher and DD2 frantically trying to get UCAS to open.. DD got there first and first choice uni had accepted her with the B she got not the A they needed.

One VERY happy girl. (and pretty proud mother a B is a good grade it is so sad that we are in a situation where they are seen as bad).

Friend son got his 1st choice university and friend of DD got her 2nd choice (she is thrilled as she missed 2 grades and thought she would not get ANY offers to study to become a vet) DD2s x bf (as of this week after 2 years together) got into his 1st choice too

So all in all it has been a good day even if not fully getting the grades the children were hoping for.

Next week we have 1st GCSE for dd3 only the 1 though as she did RE 1 year early..

There's one on the Higher Education board, and probably others there also discussing results.
Congratulations to your DD and her friends.

Ty Erroll Oddly I looked there but missed it. Would still love to hear how others are finding today.

Ds had his AS results today. He's been so down about it all for months. His predicted grades were 2 Ds and he's got a B and a C. He's absolutely delighted. I am absolutely delighted for him. This is the 4th year of having to watch him go through this exam stress - not sure how we're going to get through next year's. I do wish there wasn't this level of pressure put on them.

Enko- well done to your dd and her friends.

Thats fantastic Cluttering. Hope DS really gets on with it for next year then knowing he is capable from the AS grades and next year is a even better experience for him.

Thanks you!

Me too!! I'm really hoping it's going to give him the confidence boost he needs.

This morning we had no ambition, no direction, expected a set of very poor results so hadnt even applied to uni.

Results much better than anticipated, had a uni rep at the school, so application done there and then, and now he's been accepted.

I'm in shock.

Now Ive got to get my head round UCAS, and loans and grants and the like.

Clutterfreeintraining · 15/08/2019 13:49

Wow, that's fantastic!!

DS had a firm offer for our local uni, got a text at 6.30 to congratulate him on getting in so we knew he had CCC at least. Got to school and they confirmed he had BBC. DS has wanted to change his subject for a while so had gone through clearing and has a clearing offer for a university in the next town. He is happy I think, although a bit gutted he isn't going to the local uni with two of his good friends.
