WhoahThereCrazyHorse · 15/08/2019 07:48

Could I please have any recommendations for holiday amusements? We love pass the pig, Yahtzee and of course Uno 😀

Anyone got any other gems I can Amazon prime before we go at the weekend?

Also does anyone have any crafty type ideas for quiet time, kids are 8 and 6.

Thank you!!

Various Top Trumps and Travel Connect 4 have come out the most this week.

Also a ball and velcro bat set and a Frisbee.

Bananagrams is small to pack (although you need a table and a bit of space to play)

For craft, what about making bracelets with paracord or loom bands or do friendship bracelets? Or what about some starter knitting or crochet?

Uno and cards for us.

Tiredbuthappy1970 · 15/08/2019 07:57

Dobble

Sunnysidegold · 15/08/2019 08:06

We love dobble here too. Take a normal deck of cards too so you can teach children different games - my kids love Go Fish and husband and I play Gin Rummy in the evenings.
We got pass the pigs this year and enjoyed it.
I've always wanted to try banana grams.

Sunnysidegold · 15/08/2019 08:07

For crafts what about those scraper art things? You get kids ones you can do with a little stick rather than a sharp blade.

We got puzzle books for the plane which our two liked playing with during siesta time.

Newjobnewstart · 15/08/2019 08:10

Dobble, uno and dominos are faves here.

BikeRunSki · 15/08/2019 08:10

Sorry
Storycubes

My 7 year old struggled to het any long words with Bananagrams. You have to be pretty confident at spelling.

Stompythedinosaur · 15/08/2019 08:20

Dobble and a normal pack of cards to play games like Go Fish.

My 8yo enjoys Hive but my 6yo finds it a bit hard, but plays alongside an adult.

ZenNudist · 15/08/2019 08:25

Dobble
Exploding kittens

Rainbowqueeen · 15/08/2019 08:32

Dobble
Sleeping queens
Sushi go

All small and easy to pack
I’d also take a pack of playing cards for memory, rummy, spoons and cheat

For crafty things I’d look at sticker books

Ha ha I put this almost exact same post up last week! We are on holiday as we speak and I got:

Dobble - huge success with mine 7 and 5
Quirkle - great for the older one and adults

Both are easy travel size and the Dobble tin actually fits inside the Quirkle (travel edition) bag!

We also made a special trip to town to get wordsearch and puzzle books that they chose, bought new colouring book each, a bumper sticker book based on their favourite book and a couple of school type workbooks.

I also packed a plastic folder of coloured paper, scissors, pritt stick and a mini sellotape dispenser and have saved boxes from biscuits etc for junk modelling which has been very popular!

Finally, I have small paint palettes sort of like this which travel well and are good for stones etc

We also love dobble!

Gobbolinocat · 15/08/2019 08:42

Dibble is good but didn't hold mines attention beyond a few games.
Exploding kittens is the out and out favourite here for 12 and 5 year old.
Sleeping Queens is also v good and djeco games, the witch one and pirates.

Rat a tat cat is good too.

sm40 · 15/08/2019 08:47

Sushi go and monopoly deal. Might be better for the 8 year old but definitely worth having!

gerbo · 15/08/2019 08:50

If your children are older and like Monopoly, I'd highly recommend Monopoly Deal. Mine are 9 and 12 and managed fine after a few 'trial' working it out rounds.

We also love UNO, bananagrams, Dobble. I always take a colouring book or two, Top Trumps, and a family quiz or trivia book.

For outside- badminton rackets worked brilliantly for us this year, and they used to enjoy that scratchy ball catch thingy too.

gerbo · 15/08/2019 08:50

Apologies - just seem ages. MD may be too much yet!

fallaciousreasoning · 15/08/2019 08:55

Cobra paw is fantastic.
