Coughing up a ‘grain of sand’?

It isn’t actually sand but looks just like it. I cough up a ‘grain’ perhaps once every two months. Does anyone else? What is it? Confused

So a year later you didn’t see a GP?

Kittykat93 · 17/07/2020 14:43

Yeah what did the gp say a year ago op?? None of us can tell you what it is

Modestandatinybitsexy · 17/07/2020 15:16

They're so tiny how do you even notice them?

What did the GP say when you went a year ago?

I know what you're talking about. The frequency for me, lately, has been once about every two weeks. Sometimes it's just phlegm with some grit in it, sometimes it's a grain of sand. I can crunch down on them with my teeth and break them. But yes, they seem calcified. I wonder if you have learned anything since you posted this. I'm trying to figure it out. I feel that there is likely irritation caused by it. I have a lot of throat clearing. (Used to have a lot of coughing, but I kind of think that was due to one that was farther down in my (lungs?) and cleared itself out over time. I don't cough like I used to, but still the throat clearing. I would be grateful for any insight you have had.

If you don't tag the OP she's highly unlikely to see your posts!

@CoughSplutter

No, it’s not a tonsil stone. It’s tiny, perfectly spherical and rock hard. Doesn’t smell.

It is the same size as a grain of sand. Why it matters? Because I don’t think it’s normal to be coughing up rock hard pieces of ‘sand’ from my lungs?

I might be way off here, but someone posted on FB about worms in white fish . They are physically removed-encysted roundworm.

I was horrified and googled, and a doctor said if they aren’t cooked properly, or the fish is eaten raw, they can “ Be coughed up” or cause other problems.
Hopefully it isn’t anything like this.

Could it be these?
