Having a lump removed on my back so can't wear a bra. Alternatives??

Hi All

I am having a lump removed on my back so won't be able to wear a bra for a few days. Having a large bust I can't go without support. Anyone know of any good vests with inbuilt support or bra alternatives that wont be too tight around the band area?

What about getting a bra designed for low back dresses? They might be a bit uncomfy for all day long though.

Maybe try Bravissimo as they have (from memory) some vest tops with inbuilt bras. Bit pricey though. Also recall seeing some in Marks and Spencer a while back so maybe check the website.

Would crop tops be any good? Sportjock do some crop top type sports bras that may be better, but I don't know exactly where your sore bit will be.

Could you wear a maternity bra? No underwiring and flat soft band. Or look for post-surgery bras for after e.g. mastectomy? I think John Lewis and M&S stock them.

I was also going to suggest you look at post surgery (ie mastectomy) bras they are usuall very soft have wider straps and are front fastening (so you won't be twisting and hurting yourself trying to do them up).

I also get pull on soft bra/crop top things from sainsbury's - they are soft but do give a reasonable amount of support as well - and are cheap as it is a temporary thing you probably don;t want to be shelling out huge sums.

Would something like this work? I use them to sleep in. They make your bust look a bit flat and shapeless but they do hold it up.

Something similar to this - they have others too - it has a wide back so shouldn;t cut into your wound like a normal bra.

Sympathies - I've just had a huge abcess removed from my abdomen and have an open wound - and am looking for big soft pants !!

Amazon sell stick on rabbit bras: much better support than you expect and completely backless. (Though obviously a bit weird as you have rabbit faces stuck to your boobs....)

Thanks for all the great suggestions - i will have a look at what you've recommended. It is right at the back, close to where a normal bra closes so been advised not to have the bottom of the bra band rubbing on it. Thanks again Smile

I hope your operation goes smoothly, OP Flowers.

Would bralets help? I'm a 40GG & wear the M & S bralets as I suffer from Fibromyalgia & ME/CFS, normal bras feel like I'm in a vice, but I can wear bralets 24/7 without discomfort.
