Quick poll: how much to pay teenager to feed cat?

GoldenNoodle · 13/08/2019 17:22

For one week, coming in once a day. I would expect food bowls to be washed and ask for them to put our bins out on bin day. Teenager is 13.

Don't want to overpay or underpay!

£20

Halo1234 · 13/08/2019 17:24

£30. But that's a total guess. Mainly because it ties then locally for the week. They cant go away for the day.

Hefzi · 13/08/2019 17:26

A tenner a day, but based on every other post, I'm a profligate fucker Grin

Was going to say £25z

NoSauce · 13/08/2019 17:26

£25.

HeadsDownThumbsUpEveryone · 13/08/2019 17:27

£25 - £30 would be fair.

NoPinkPlease · 13/08/2019 17:30

I recently did £5 a day for my teenage catsitter

LazyFace · 13/08/2019 17:31

Cat 'sitters' in area charge £8-£10 per visit.

LazyFace · 13/08/2019 17:32

In our area

wendz86 · 13/08/2019 17:32

I was going to suggest £5 a day

BertrandRussell · 13/08/2019 17:34

My ds used to get £5 a day for one visit.

kjhkj · 13/08/2019 17:36

£5 a day

twirlypoo · 13/08/2019 17:42

7 days - i would pay £35 as standard and probably round up to £50

GoldenNoodle · 13/08/2019 17:44

I'm glad I asked! I had been expecting £15-20. £5/10 per visit does seem like quite a lot - they live on our street and will only be spending 10 mins here maximum. But I do not want to be a skinflint, so maybe £30 would be reasonable?

Someaddedsugar · 13/08/2019 17:45

I'd say £5 a day

hopewardrobe · 13/08/2019 17:48

£25

H2OH20Everywhere · 13/08/2019 17:50

I think it partly depends on how near they live (next door, or bus-ride away - yes, I did that as a teen) and how long you expect them to stay (will it be a quick pop in and out, or will they stay and play with the cats?). If next door for 5 mins then £25. If further away or will stay for longer then maybe £5 a day, but rounded up to £40.

GoldenNoodle · 13/08/2019 17:53

I think I'll stick with £30 - it's a very quick walk to our house and not a huge job. Maybe next year, I'll up the price .

Thank you everyone. I'm off to pack!

we swapped the duties with neighbours, so no money changed hands this year. It was mostly the adults doing the work, but the kids all helped too.

A couple of years ago my neighbours kids looked after our cat for a week. We gave them a tenner each and a box of the local fudge for mum and dad. They all seemed happy with that.

womblessofwimbledon · 13/08/2019 18:06

Give them £20 upfront and £20 after, I'd also leave them some cans of soda and treats

Celestine70 · 13/08/2019 23:54

20 quid would be fine. It's an hour's work so plenty.
