Please tell me when your Little grew out of this & (give me any tips on how to survive)!
My OL is 4 weeks old and I'm struggling with the evening relentless in consolable crying.

Colic?

Summer2019NewMummy · 13/08/2019 00:06

Been using infacol for the last week, not made a difference. Baby cries for a couple of hours every evening.

My DS1 (who is now 22!) used to do this. Cried every evening from 5-8. Nothing I eliminated from my diet (breastfed) made any difference.

We just had to ride it out and wait for him to grow out of it unfortunately.
What I did do, was to walk around holding him face down and with his body supported by my arm. This seemed to help.

It is horrible and won't last forever, although it feels like it. 🙂

Definitely feels like it'll never stop 😢

I think it had always stopped altogether by 10 weeks but was gradually getting better until then. Sympathy, it's horrible! Infacol did nothing for our first baby so we didn't bother with it after that, and now I don't think it's digestive issues at all, it's just some developmental brain-overload thing they go through that you can't really fix.

Best way of getting through it I found was sling + vigorous bouncing on yoga ball + white noise + music/podcast on headphones for me, at least blocked out the crying a bit.

aewwwenxt · 13/08/2019 10:39

Have you used dentinox instead of infacol? That helped my little one loads when we had crying form 7pm-3am.
And is baby breast or bottle fed? My neighbour who bottle fed was under feeding the baby (she didn't realise that's why he was crying as he also had colic and the health visitor had never said). As soon as he was being fed enough the comic started to sort itself out too

Klouise777 · 13/08/2019 10:43

You have my full sympathy lo was just like this. It got better. You may want to seek medical help to rule anything out but for us it happened pretty much every night from 8pm for hours. It did get better gradually and then stopped. We tried every anti colic thing money could buy and nothing worked but reading about purple crying helped understand what was going on

Belgravian · 13/08/2019 10:44

Try a baby swing.

My son had colic and it was unbearable and really effected me. I tried everything and nothing worked. All I can say that it does pass and even though it feels rough now it will be gone sooner than you think. My DH and I used to take turns just holding the baby or taking him out for a walk. It’s tough but remember it too will pass.

Summer2019NewMummy · 13/08/2019 13:04

Just picked up some dentinox. Will see how that goes. Though I think everyone that's said purple crying/developmental is probably right. I just hate to think it could be pain/discomfort and I'd like to help her if it is.

After weeks of suffering this I found that going for a walk with baby in sling at witching time meant the baby fell asleep without screaming and then could be put down - either staying asleep or getting back to sleep easily because she wasn’t overtired

Wnikat · 13/08/2019 13:25

(IMHO witching hour is caused by overtiredness rather than anything else)

stephn88 · 13/08/2019 13:35

I'm currently using infacol, if I was to switch to dentinox could I do it the same day/on next feed? Thanks

Summer2019NewMummy · 14/08/2019 10:55

@Wnikat I did think that it could be over tiredness. But she literally wakes up and it starts. I've been making sure she has plenty of sleep throughout the day but it hasn't made a difference
