I'd go for warm colours. Maybe the mustard colour that seems to be all the rage at the moment. It goes well with dark greeny/blue. You could make one wall into a photo wall for family photos. We've done this in dh office.

This is the colour combination I mean

I would do plain walls and then see if I could get funky gamer or movie prints. A big comfy sofa and decent blackout blinds

i have a games room for teens. It's north facing and I painted it F&B stone blue. I have pewter lamps/shades and yellow/ochre accessories. Some painting, pictures and albums sleeves in frames on the wall along with a colourful basket weave thing I got in the middle east. Works really well.

Good ideas .. our lounge/ open plan living room kitchen diner has blue and grey so I think it best to have something else but I'm not sure what . I'd like it to be stylish but also what my teens would think is cool.. it will have a big comfy sofa and a projector and a massive fluffy carpet when they fit it next week 😍

We have a large one with a cinema screen and a pool table, table football etc. It was previously the DC's playroom but they're now 12 and 14 and so we've made it a bit more grown up. We have a very pale grey blue on the walls (F&B skylight), Heavy navy curtains, brown leather sofas with cushions made from old striped jumpers and striped shirts, a day bed which pulls put to make a double bed (great for when friends stay) and a massive fluffy rug. Lots of framed movie posters on the walls.

JoJoSM2 · 13/08/2019 08:21

We haven't got any consoles but have a cinema room. Very dark wallpaper, a lot of dimmer light switches. For teens, you could put posters from different films on the wall. For some photo inspiration, Houzz is a great website.

If your kitchen has blue and grey then I'd personally stick with this (but a different shade) so that your house decoration flows.

BiggerBoat1 · 13/08/2019 08:26

Doesn't matter how you decorate it, it will be full of empty drinks glasses and have crisp packets under the sofa. Grin

Ours is dark grey walls, with framed gaming posters, two tvs next to each other and two x rocker gaming chairs! And lots of storage for all the accessories and games.

TowerRingInferno · 13/08/2019 08:32

Ours has grey walls, black wooden furniture, and red, white, blue and black curtains. It seems to be very popular with teenage boys but I find it too harsh and it’s not a room I ever want to go in.

And yes, crisps packets, sweets wrappers, plates and glasses everywhere

Grasspigeons · 13/08/2019 08:33

I think quite dark. We have a games room and basically they close the curtans and turn the light of to emerse themselves in the game. Mustards and dark blues are lovely. I like forest greens.

alliejay81 · 13/08/2019 08:39

Ours is grey and red - shared by DH and DS. DH leaves plates and crisp packets, but DS is better trained! Confused

DH is going to add some football photos and maybe some band ones. I think it's the accessories that make that sort of room.

Agree it’s what put in by the actual gamer. The games they know and love. I do not currently have my own room but will at some point. I have an exact replica of a cloak that I have worn in game and also some armour I have made which will be framed or mounted on the wall. This stuff took many dozens of hours to make. I have seen cloaks like the one I made for sale, they are between £200 to £500 it’s serious detailed cosplay stuff. I also have some posters that I will frame.

What games do they play ?

gubbsywubbsy · 13/08/2019 19:29

Wow .. great ideas .. the rooms don't touch each other so it wouldn't matter so much if the colours don't stay tonal but it's good to hear a lot of you think I should go with the same colour palettes as I thought it might be a bit samey all through the house . Out bedroom is silver grey too 😬
