Ideas for Moroccan style meal

Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for a Moroccan lamb type dish, I'm thinking fairly spicy, apricots, lamb (or lamb meatballs), sauce, which I can serve with seasoned couscous/cauli rice?
And also, what could I serve for a similar themed starter?

Antony Worrall Thompson's lamb tagine.

Mary Berry does a similar one.

Both can be served with couscous but it will need to be flavoured well as it can be a bit bland on its own.

For the starters I'd keep it simple with flatbreads and an assortment of dips, such as:
sweet and spicy carrot dip - allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/42178/sweet-and-spicy-moroccan-carrot-dip.aspx
zaalouk (aubergines) - allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/28680/moroccan-dip--zaalouk-.aspx

Fried halloumi bites (covered in sesame seeds) are also good.

Blunt thank you! Have you tried the AWT and MB ones? If so, which do you prefer? I'm trying to recreate an amazing meal I had on holiday, it was spicy but had that real fruity sweetness too and I cannot get it right!

I have made this Lamb Tagine but missed out the rose water as not keen and really enjoyed it.

The dates really add something.

For a starter, maybe mini pita breads stuffed with falafels and a red pepper salad, or perhaps a fruity salad of persimmon or oranges, pomegranate and a salty cheese such as feta?

What about these as a starter?

Chicken Briouats

This Website looks really nice, loads of ideas.

You could make a mint tea as an aperitif.

I seem to have gone down a Moroccan food interweb wormhole Blush

One of my guests is allergic to oranges, but I could do a selection of salads, breads and dips. Dates could definitely feature

Does this lend itself to a sort of Mezze type arrangement, do you think, with everyone having a bit of each or is it better to be a set starter then main?

Love the Moroccan wormhole!

I did a Moroccan buffet for a group of friends a couple of years ago. I served spicy Moroccan lamb ( a good housekeeping recipe that we now eat frequently ) made in the slow cooker, a chickpea casserole, a preserved lemon chicken dish along with salads and hummus and couscous and rice. It was well received. And worked for the vegetarians too

I left the olives out as I don't like them. Served it with couscous that I added chopped apricots and pistachios to.
