Paddle boarding.

Fizzypoo · 12/08/2019 09:20

Have you been to the cambourn stones? Its 10 mins from redruth. Theres a little 'castle' tea room, (it's probably not open but it might be) and giant stone boulders with natural rock slides. I take my DC whenever we're in Cornwall with a flask of tea and a pasty. Theres some really cool stories about the giants throwing the rocks, but you'd need to be cornish to know them as theres no booklet or guide. Theres also a roller skating disco place in redruth.

Ferry down the river to Falmouth? Then a visit to the National Maritime Museum—lots of boats and great views.

Rockbird · 12/08/2019 09:22

Healeys Cyder farm. He can try the cider (minuscule tastes!) and go on a tractor ride!

dramaqueen · 12/08/2019 09:22

You can hire kayaks and I think paddle boards at Swanpool beach Falmouth. There’s also a lovely cafe there and loads of parking (other side of the road)

dramaqueen · 12/08/2019 09:24

Oh yes, the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth is great for that age. There a place on the ground floor you can “sail” the model boats. Hours of fun.

dramaqueen · 12/08/2019 09:25

One more - Pendennis Castle Falmouth is a good day out. Also got a good cafe.

AngelasAshes · 12/08/2019 09:27

Trelissick Garden (National Trust) is also good. It’s 300 acres of woods and stuff. If you like taking long walks.
Their website says they have free archery range set up for kids now.

Drive down a30 to St Erth. Park your car in the new park and ride and get the train into St Ives. Hire kayaks and SUPs at Porthminster Beach right by the station. Or walk round to Porthmeor Beach and go body boarding or surfing.

The Falmouth idea is another good one. Park at the park and float and get the boat in. It’s lovely!

sleepwhenidie · 12/08/2019 09:28

I was going to suggest the maritime museum at Falmouth too. Or, St Michaels Mount, or I saw a sign on the a30 for a screech owl sanctuary which I thought sounded cool but might not be everyone’s cup of tea! Take body boards to the dunes at Sennen or Hayle for a bit of sand surfing?

sleepwhenidie · 12/08/2019 09:30

Lost gardens of Heligan?

moocowmrs · 12/08/2019 10:06

The Telegraph Museum at Porthcurno is great and the beach there is lovely.

Overseasmom100 · 12/08/2019 11:15

Only one word of warning the beach food / takeaway bit at watergate bay is ££££££££ and not good food at all, premade sandwiches and very poor quality for a lot of money. Lovely beach though and great atmosphere x

Japanese garden near New Quay.
