Gift ideas for friend moving to Spain

Has anyone got any ideas of presents that I can buy? I’m clueless at presents at the best of times. Would appreciate some ideas!

It depends on what they already have, and your budget I suppose.

A lot of roads and paths in Spain are unlit at night. A gift I find nearly always goes down well is a quality torch such as a Maglite. If you look on Amazon using “Maglite Torch” as a search, you’ll see a huge range of large and small torches. The LED ones are very good.

My suggestion would be a Mini AA Torch, plus a chunkier one for home use. The Mini slips into a pocket – very useful for emergencies.

I'll leave others to suggest 'proper' presents.

But, depending on how familiar your friend already is with their new destination, and how they feel about leaving the UK, what about scheduling ahead a special, personalised package to arrive at their new home a day or so after they arrive?

That may be when tiredness from the move and temporary homesickness strikes, amidst all the excitement and positive stuff.

You'll probably be FaceTiming/emailing/texting regularly, but nothing compares with a bit of home comfort from a thoughtful friend.

What's your budget? Shipping costs may deter.

If not,
Suggestions of items to include:

  • A small photo montage (or pre-loaded memory card/flash drive, if they have a digital frame?) of meaningful times you've shared together/ treasured favourite places etc.

Perhaps add in-joke captions or speech bubble stickers.

[Pre-framed, freestanding for instant display, is always extra welcome.
Alternatively, bonus points if photos in a lightweight mini-album/ concertina, as is then always portable to workplace/when travelling around their new country].

  • A few non-perishable favourite edible treats.
[Especially good if it's something unusually specific/ regional & hard to get hold of abroad].
  • .A copy of a British magazine reflecting particular interests/hobbies
  • A handwritten letter...especially appreciated as increasingly rare these days!
Tailored to suit their personality & what type of friendship you have: sentimental, deep & meaningful or jokey and bantering.
