Hi- I’m in London all the time for work- most weeks- but rarely as a tourist and never child free. I have a rare weekend with my mum and we are headed to London as we have tickets for something, and also want to see v&a, but I’d like to do loads more without feeling rushed- the thrill of being hands free 😂 so-
Wimbledon area (event) Saturday morning, not then leaving London till Sunday afternoon
Want to do v&a for Dior (have member tickets so don’t need to book and can get entry even though it’s sold out)
Where would you stay- I want to be able to potter and drink naice drinks and dinner in a ‘it’s london’ but not trendy trendy as mum is older, but don’t want to do premier inn as that’s what I always do with kids. If money were no object would stay at ampersand in Kensington, but is £280- budget max max 150.
On occasion child free Usually stay at Hoxton in shoreditch or Holborn or similar but is wrong ‘location’ for mum really...
Then rest of time?
Had thought-
Sat am- Event - Wimbledon area
Sat late afternoon/evening- ??
Sunday morning v&a
Sunday lunch- somewhere Kensington area?
Help! Thanks

I can’t advise on hotels but depending on which weekend it is, would your mum enjoy a cruise & lunch / tea by the river? Richmond is lovely. www.turks.co.uk/timetable/

is 150 for you or both of you, are you going to be sharing a room

I think your budget might be ok for staying at the Cannizaro in Wimbledon Village. Not sure if you've been to that part of Wimbledon but it's upmarket and more old-school than, say, Hoxton. Wimbledon is on the district line so it'd just be a few stops on the tube to get up to the V&A.

Have a look at the basil street hotel which is in Knightsbridge so you could walk to v&a and see if they would suit and have any availability at the right price.

Thanks should say 150 twin room, so loads available per se just not very inspiring

The hotel I posted also offers afternoon tea which is a nice thing to do, the hotel is near the Saatchi Gallery on Kings Road, you've got Sloane Street and Knightsbridge shops and it's not far to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. They have twin rooms and I think you get a discount if you "join" the hotel site when you book. It will be near the District or Circle line tube stations, Wimbledon is on the district line. It's also not far from the Chelsea pensioners hospital (sorry don't know it's proper name) where you can look around and also have tea.
