Roaccutane and makeup

Mrspimplepopper · 11/08/2019 18:07

Can anyone recommend me a non pore clogging foundation please?

Im 6 weeks into roaccutane treatment, prior to this I was a huge fan of estee lauder double wear foundation to cover my acne spots and scars.

My skin is now improving and is also mega dry. Ive been makeup free for last few weeks as my double wear foundation looks terrible, sticking to all the dry areas and looks really heavy

Anyone help? Whats bare minerals foundation like?

Thankyou

@Mrspimplepopper sorry to lurk on your thread. Interested in replies.

Can I ask what your experience of roaccutane is. I’m off to dermatologist on Monday and gp has advised this may be recommended.

@LilyMumsnet thankyou for moving the thread for me

@BlueberryFool123 hi, id be more than happy to share my experience so far.

So im about 6 weeks in, initially after 2/3 days the skin on my face felt tight. My lips also felt a bit sore (like how your top lip gets sore from blowing your nose when you have a cold)

After a week i could no longer use my T tree face wash (bodyshop) because my face was stinging with it. I changed to the vitamin e cream cleanser instead.

Week 2 and my lips were so sore they felt burnt and the corners of my mouth were splitting. Someone recommended i use cracked nipple cream which has been a life saver.

So im now 6 weeks in, my lips are sore bit managable. The inside of my nose is very sore and cracked and ive been stuffing Vaseline or sudocrem up it to help. My joints (ankles and hips) are really starting to ache so ive besn taking regular paracetamol.

My face is looking good, bit peely and flakey but goshhhh ive got no actual active spots

Hi Mrspimplepopper, how much coverage do you want at the moment? Make up definitely goes differently on to dry skin- I found my MAC studiofix and mineral foundations looked and felt all wrong. I found Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser and la Roche posay BB blur both worked fine but it depends on the coverage you want.

Currently 4 months off treatment and I’m not wearing any foundation day to day, I love that medication!

I used the bare minerals powder foundation when I was on roaccutane. I never found a liquid that looked ok when my skin was so dry.

Mrspimplepopper · 12/08/2019 21:13

@taybert im so used to the full coverage of double wear but now i dont like it, i think i need something that i can build up or just dust over as my skin improves further

@YouKilledOinker which one did you choose? The original one? Did you use the primer too? Do i need to spend a fortune on the brushes as well?

@MrsPimplePopper thanks for sharing. That’s really helpful and will get the cracked nipple cream in!

YouKilledOinker · 13/08/2019 07:15

@Mrspimplepopper I used the original one as it was quite a while ago, I did use the kabuki brush as it was ideal but I didn't buy anything else.
There was another online brand that I liked too as they had some real ghostly shades to suit my skin. I can't remember the name so I'll look when I get it.
