Daft question - but electric toothbrushes for 2 people?

I want to get electric toothbrushes for me & dd, & somehow I feel like there ought to be a 'family' option with one stand/charger & two brushes, but totally failing to find it. Am I being really dense & missing them? (Hoping for mid range so not super cheap but not too crazy pricey either!)

All the electric toothbrushes I've ever had come with 4 heads so you’ve each got your own.

FiveLittlePigs · 11/08/2019 13:08

The one I currently have is Fairywill Electric Toothbrush Sonic Toothbrush - £20 on Amazon at the moment. No complaints here.

Sadik · 11/08/2019 13:11

Is it easy to change the heads? DD had a cheapy battery powered electric brush, and it broke first time she tried to put a new head on it, so I'd worried that swapping them twice a day would be an issue!

We have one brush with separate heads. They just pull off.

sanityisamyth · 11/08/2019 13:17

DS and I have separate brushes. Makes life easier. I know that I could just swap the heads but hey. Also means that we can brush our teeth at the same time so that he knows that he is brushing for long enough.

ChoccyJules · 11/08/2019 13:18

Yes, if one or other of the DD‘s handles need charging we just swap the head onto her sister‘s one. Think it‘s oralB, they tend to have Disney heads.

Sadik · 11/08/2019 13:20

Do you have two chargers sanity? Or one charger / two brushes (if so where from?
It'd definitely work better for us to have two brushes as both dd & I are away relatively often for a night or so.

Having said you can share one brush and simply change the heads from person to person - I would not do this. The brush becomes ‘dirty’even when rinsed properly after use - around where the heads and coloured Id rings attach - with old toothpaste etc. Given it’s going on months it’s the last thing I’d think about sharing in that way but perhaps I’m being fussy ?
I’d love one charger with multiple brushes. Getting a charger every time does seem wasteful.

HeronLanyon · 11/08/2019 13:21

In mouths not ´on months’.

Fleetheart · 11/08/2019 13:22

We all just have one toothbrush each. Makes life easier really. They’re cheaper these days

Sadik · 11/08/2019 13:23

Mind you, given she's heading for her last year at college chances are she'll move out within the life of the toothbrush, so maybe I should not worry about it & just buy two!

They’re designed for multiple use. That’s why the heads have those differently coloured rings on them, everyone gets their own easily distinguishable brush head.

Sadik · 11/08/2019 13:39

After a bit more searching, I did find one sold as a pack with two handles :)

HeronLanyon · 11/08/2019 14:14

head you’re right they are sold for many to happily switch to their own colour coded brush head. But when I look at the crud left even on mine even when rinsed I wouldn’t share one. I’ve always thought it was one of those good ideas which just isn’t really practical when you think about it. Maybe I am slightly ‘particular’ !

MulticolourMophead · 11/08/2019 14:23

We've never had a problem sharing one brush between 3. We all have our own heads, the handle is washed each time, and it's been fine.

keepondreaming · 11/08/2019 14:25

Thanks for that link @Sadik Boots are half price too at the moment (cheaper than amazon), DD and I are also in need of new toothbrushes after both being chastised by dentist last week!

I'm also looking for a water jet Flosser, anyone have any recommendations?

Sadik · 11/08/2019 15:17

No, but let me know if you find one, I hate regular floss!

sanityisamyth · 11/08/2019 15:53

@Sadik we don't have chargers. We have the battery ones but they last a month or so before running out. They're the Oral-B ones.

ShirleyPhallus · 11/08/2019 16:00

I’m not sure why but the thought of sharing one toothbrush even with different heads makes me feel a bit queasy

EggysMom · 11/08/2019 16:05

I know the heads are meant to be multi-change ... but DH and I have our own chargers as well. It means we don't have to faff with swapping heads ...

keepondreaming · 12/08/2019 14:08

@sanityisamyth DD and I were told off for having the battery ones by the dentist. I like them as I can doing my own brushing movement combined with the brush head whizzing round. But dentist said they weren't good apparently - worse than manual ones! Don't see it myself but my gums have recede appallingly and quickly and DD needs fillings, so perhaps she's right! Hence my looking to change and get new electric ones and jet Flosser.

sanityisamyth · 12/08/2019 14:11

@keepondreaming that’s interesting! My dentist has never said anything about them and said that DS’s teeth are perfect but I will ask them next time I see them :)

Likethebattle · 12/08/2019 14:20

Get the small interdental brushes rather than floss. They work much better.
