I'm in Cambridge today with 2ds aged 8- I have a whole day to kill! We've done the museums of arch / zoology etc once before so want some suggestions. The kids wanted to go punting but it's so windy here! What can I do to entertain them today which is indoors?

Thank you we went to the science centre. We spent a good few hours in there and the kids loved it.

On a random note what on earth is up with car park prices?! It's sooooo extortionate everywhere !!

Take them to see Toy Story 4. They will love you forever.

Sorry op, you're not supposed to drive into/in Cambridge. The parking is priced to deter car use.

plugsock · 10/08/2019 20:12

What?! How else are you supposed to move around Cambridge? Please don't say buses or bikes! I also have a young baby in tow and both those other options would have caused me ALOT of hassle!

There’s Park & Ride just off the M11.

DameCelia · 10/08/2019 20:47

''fraid so, public transport only is the aim.

BringOnTheScience · 10/08/2019 20:48

Welcome to Cambridge! Parking is indeed priced to deter driving in to town. Park & Ride from Trumpington, Milton, Babraham & Madingley. Longstanton for P&R then the guided bus.

Good call on the Science Centre Smile . Another option nearby for next time is the Clip n Climb.

plugsock · 10/08/2019 21:47

Well at least I know now to avoid coming here again as lovely as it is!
The public transport must be excellent here with those car park prices!

The P&R buses run very frequently and they really are far preferable to sitting in a traffic queue. Honestly. Even with young children.

It's a medieval town centre: simply not designed for lots of cars. The prices of parking and buses are pitched to actively discourage driving and congestion.
