What is your biggest achievement?

I have an interview next week and have been told one of the questions is that.

I hate this question as although there are many things I'm proud of - my children, my home, my degree ... I couldn't tell you my biggest achievement.

So, in my place, what would yours be?

If it is for work pick something that goes down well in a work context. So in my case I would produce something relevant to the job interview/ their company eg that I pulled in a massive client or whatever.

If it is being asked that for a magazine interview again I would give an answer based on the context eg if it were an interview about combining work and home I would mention child and then work things too.

I am proud of many things same as you listed. But for me personally my biggest achievement is sitting and passing my CTA exams at first attempt with very good marks throughout 3 pregnancies and two babies. My biggest achievement will remain thing for a long time as I sat my final exam heavily pregnant and went to the labour ward to deliver my daughter in the afternoon straight after finishing the exam.
On a very basic level, my other achievement is also to survive the period when I had a 2 weeks old baby and my father’s sudden death. I can’t even look back at that time because it’s so heartbreaking for me.
Good luck for your interview!

I would never see my children or my home as an achievement as such, certainly proud of my children though. What they are looking for is one thing unusual, something you've achieved by showing determination or dedication over and above what is done by most people.
I have a big sporting achievement which I would roll out if asked.

Setting up a food bank that has fed a few thousand people, it’s almost 9 years ago now.

Being one of the youngest women who was ever voted on to regional trade union committees for women’s and also ethnic minority workers In my early twenties.

Helping write equal opportunities policies for local government. Setting up and running a women’s group that left me frequently attacked verbally by people.

Meeting many politicians but remaining suitably unimpressed by them.

My problem is, it's a completely new organisation so I couldn't give anything relevant to their company. My current job is a bit mundane and there's nothing that jumps out at me that is an achievement worthy of being my biggest!

You all seem to have done something amazing .. I'm thinking I might fail this interview Blush

I completed my degree whilst working full time and pregnant and was pleased with myself at the time for juggling it all but I'm not sure it would be an achievement in their eyes ...

Something about how you boosted sales or were good at advertising as all companies want to make more money. I would not mention anything to do with children or family or home at all.
