Does anyone know how they do boxes? Do they supply these or do you have to buy them? Also, what exactly is included in a packing service? Thanks.

Packing material you will most likely have to buy. However we had the packing service and they supplied everything (they then collected most of the boxes back)

They came in and just packed everything - bubble wrap or paper if needed. We emptied the loft as they quoted quite a bit for that, but it was worth having and a very small cost in the grand scheme. We also paid for them to take apart / rebuild the DC beds.

We used a packing service, and they packed everything - including rubbish from the windowsills! For us it was definitely worth the money, they packed the day before and kept the boxes on their lorry in a secure compound overnight, leaving just the furniture to pick up and move the next day. It meant we didn't have boxes sitting around for weeks beforehand, which would have been disruptive for our son.

Ok, that makes sense, thank you.

Sorry for hijacking the thread with a possibly stupid question - if you have the packing service, do they literally empty your drawers for your and take the stuff out of your wardrobes etc? You don't have to do anything?

TeamUnicorn · 08/08/2019 10:28

Our wardrobes they used hanging boxes. I did empty the dc's wardrobes as there wasn't any at the new house (in-built)

Drawers they cling filmed and took as and everything else got put in boxes.

As said above we did the loft and also did a lot of the garage and shed, playhouse. They would have done them for the money but they were the areas with the most rubbish so we sorted and packed.

Our removals firms have always delivered loads of boxes, packing tape and bubble wrap once we confirmed the date. They collected any empty boxes once we had a pile of them once we had moved.

I have kept a whole load of boxes (flattened) in my garage for the past 3 years as I knew I would be moving around now so have already started packing up for the end of September! Grin The ones you get from a reputable moving company will be strong and possibly double walled.
