I've had that. Turns out it was endometriosis.

Terrysyogurt · 07/08/2019 21:36

Living that's interesting as my friend has already suggested I have this from other symptoms!!

Same op and I was told same but nothing conclusive and I don't know what that means or if it means anything needs to be done?

I had mine investigated and it turns out my urethra and various other organs are 'stuck' to the scar tissue. I have had three CS though.

It's likely I will need a hysterectomy at some point.

Terrysyogurt · 07/08/2019 21:56

Onyourway, IV had 3 also and have bladder problems that have been totally disregarded

Adhesions, probably.

Over 90% of people who've had abdo surgery of any kind end up with them, and that's the type of pain sensation they cause. They can form years and years after surgery, or shortly afterwards. They are very unpredictable in how they form and who they affect.

It's basically scar tissue attaching your organs to each other so they can't move freely and slip past each other anymore. Can also wrap around organs, for instance around the bowel causing partial or complete obstruction. Your bladder could have become "glued" to your uterus...

Abdo surgery causes an inflammation response that triggers the creation of scar tissue, especially in organs that have been handled, moved about, maybe dried out a bit. It's not just where your incisions were. Because they're all close together and because scar tissue isn't stretchy like normal tissue they can end up stuck together and constrained.

Adhesions don't show up on scans, so can only really be diagnosed based on history/symptoms or further surgery. Except more surgery can lead to more adhesions so they only do surgery to investigate or remove them if they're causing severe or life threatening problems.

Mine feels like it still has stitches in and they are being pulled at its a few twinges a month but it’s very painful. And area is tender when I am on my period (12 years on)

Andahelterskelterroundmylittle · 08/08/2019 07:05

I had a lump from behind my caesarean scar and so began the absolute worst years of my life . Abdominal wall endometriosis

Terrysyogurt · 08/08/2019 10:29

Thanks all that's really interesting, IV had loads of issues 'down below 'as it were but to be honest the gp is just not interested.

Callaberino is it dangerous? Can anything, shld anything be done? I had some investigation but no one mentioned things being attached

onyourway · 08/08/2019 12:12

I had keyhole surgery to 'unattach' as much as the surgeon could, but she thought it too hard to do any more.

efeslight · 08/08/2019 19:57

I also have pain around my scar, sometimes a burning pain or sometimes a sharp stabbing pain. A lump also , smaller than an egg, but definitely quite a size. This is 7 years after the c section. Don't know if i should worry or not. Have mentioned it to the dr, but she doesn't seem worried.

hazeyjane · 08/08/2019 20:02

Yes, I have pulling pain, sometimes an ache which makes me feel sick. There is some lumpiness to one end of my scar and I have had bowel problems which started after my c-section 9 years ago.
Like others I mentioned it to my gp and she said it was 'one of those things'...

eurochick · 08/08/2019 20:05

I'm five years post section and my ovulation pains take my breath away. Bowel movements at ov time are also really painful. I'm pretty sure it's all glued together down there. Roll on the menopause.

PeoniesarePink · 08/08/2019 20:11

I've had 2 sections and 20 years of problems as a result. I get chronic bowel issues and uterus pain from adhesions.

I've tried advising people on the "I'm too scared to give birth so want a c section" threads but it's like banging your head against the wall.

It's horribly common. And crap to live with.
