Best colour for winter parka coat?

Definitely something neutral. My head was once turned by a purple one but I now thank goodness every time I put the black equivalent on that I resisted. If you want it to last , it needs to be a boring colour IMO.

That depends on the rest of your wardrobe and your colouring.

Eg a navy coat would go with most of my winter clothes, but a green coat wouldn't. Black doesn't look good next to my face, so would need to always wear a bright scarf with a black coat.

I just love the green coloured ones, I think they suit most people and go with most colours. I've had a green one that I wore loads, and I also once had a dark purple one.
Of course black goes with everything too.

Ah, I can see them now.

I’m going to be spending a lot of money on one and I need to get the colour right!

Mines a khaki green. The colour suits me and it goes with most things - well most things I where as it is in my colour spectrum.
The colour you choose should go with the majority of things that you wear regularly. I've previously had a burgundy one that I loved.

Damntheman · 06/08/2019 11:37

Mine is grey and I love it!

You want a lighter coloured coat if you don't want to be wearing a reflective vest, it makes it SO much easier for car drivers to see you in the dark. A dark coat will just make you vanish into the murk and puts you in a lot more danger.

My previous coat was a rather violent red, I loved that too :D But did have to wear reflective strips on it.

Then again, I live where it's dark most of the time during winter so maybe reflective vests are more important to me than most..

White or hi viz yellow or green. Although they show up the dirt, it winds me up something rotten when people are walking along, to work, or the bus stop, or through the car park, in the dark (it's always dark in winter!) And I can't see them cos they're head to toe in dark clothes.

Damntheman snap! Grin

Oldraver · 06/08/2019 12:17

Anything but black or dark blue

If you really fancy a different colour then go for it. It's usually covering your clothes so not like it has to match

DinosApple · 06/08/2019 13:29

Purple actually suits lots of people's colouring. I have coats in purple, navy, teal and khaki. Black doesn't suit me in winter so I avoid it in a coat.

My teal coat is very versatile without being too 'look at me' or too 'blend in'. And it doesn't show the dirt. Win, win.

Greyhound22 · 06/08/2019 15:14

I think khaki and grey are ideal as they go with both black and navy.

Bravelurker · 06/08/2019 15:31

I love khaki as it's neutral and goes with my various tan coloured boots /bags. Just adds a pop of colour to winter wardrobe.

reluctantbrit · 06/08/2019 16:01

I have a raspberry coloured one. Goes well with my dark trousers and - more important - I am visible in the dark when walking home from the station.

I also have a navy blue thinner one and I do see the difference in visibility when a friend borrowed it recently and I picked her up.

Do you think something neutral, onlyconnect? Wink
