Ideas please for areas/road names of areas for a twentysomething to look at renting or buying in the town itself so central and minimal car use. Moving there solo
Older posts seem to be focused on schools and areas outside town
Any thoughts please cheltmums?

This is my town!

TBh compared to 20 years ago, most of the town is gentrified these days.

Central town is (for houses) mostly victorian terraces - so usual problems with damp etc to check.

Quite a lot of flats, either above shops or new ish build.

A lot of converted georgian townhouses into appartments too.

If you have some roads in mind I can always give an opinion :)

Ooooh I lived here for 25 years. If you give an idea of where you've looked I can say what I think of each place.
My DB and DS's still live thee so we visit v regularly.

Cheltenham is my home town and I know it well. St Paul’s, Hesters Way, Whaddon are still areas to avoid. The up market areas of Charlton Kings and Leckhampton are in my opinion the best areas. Bishops Cleeve and Prestbury, Warden Hill and Hatherley are good too. If you want value for money head out a bit to Churchdown, Brockworth and Hucclecote. Very very accessible for the M5 and A417.

My hometown too!

Bath road / Tivoli / Montpellier might be good areas if you want to be central. Prestbury is nice but a bit further out of town

St Paul’s is student central so I’d avoid.

Just ended a brilliant rental in Folly Gardens. Easy walk to the town centre and a great leisure centre really close. The small development, Folly Gardens, is really friendly.
