Do you know anyone under Brexit NDAs (aka gagging orders)?

Sorry I know there is a Brexit board but I wanted to get a wide sample of people.

Does anyone know anyone that is under a non disclosure agreement (NDA) about no deal Brexit plans?

Right wing press and the Govt are assuring everyone no deal is nothing to be concerned about - but if that's the case why the need for 100's of NDAs?

Obviously anyone under NDA can't talk about the content of any plans but would you say 'I can't talk about the plans but honestly everything is fine, it's nothing to worry about in our area' OR 'I can't talk about it but I'm really quite worried'?

Or something in between?

Who are the 100s of people who have signed NDAs? Surely the reason for a lot of them will be commercial confidentiality - look what happened when Heathrow announced the size of its Brexit contingency, certain people seized on it as evidence of their commercial exposure.

Oh, and I'm guessing you've tried the FOI route and been refused on grounds of commercial sensitivity. It's really not complicated.

Where I work (bank) if you sign an NDA you can't even admit the project exists, or the project team, let alone admit that everything is either fine or worrying.

I'd expect anyone NDA'd to the Brexit project to reply with "no comment" to any question asked.

I would be quite surprised if national security - rather than commercial sensitivity - isn't a factor in any NDAs. Avoidance of panic related disorder and so on.

Alpacathebag · 05/08/2019 19:17

If someone has signed a NDA I doubt you’d get the kind of responses you want such as a type of reassurance. Anyone signing one would probably have to say “no comment” or “sorry, can’t talk about that” or maybe even say it doesn’t exist in the first place. Otherwise what would be the point of the NDA?
