Certainly is ☹️

OhioOhioOhio · 04/08/2019 22:47

Thanks Muddling. Just being nosey!

AnyFucker · 04/08/2019 22:52

I truly believe that by the time August gets here summer is well and truly on the wane

There might be heat, but the sun is often milky, ineffective and humid. August is one of the wettest months.

Summer to me is May/June with strong sunshine and dry heat.

I'm looking forward to the holiday makers going home and the schools going back. I like an early morning stroll on the beach when it's deserted.

WorraLiberty · 04/08/2019 22:56

I never even noticed Shock and now I feel cheated because I want my lighter evenings back Sad

September seems to get hotter every year, mostly as soon as the kids go back to school but at least the nights are cool.

I like a cold(ish) bedroom so I can pull the duvet up.

PinkBlossomInSummer · 04/08/2019 23:01

I hate when the nights start getting shorter. I never understand why people want to go to work in the dark, come home in the dark and sit indoors. I count down until the days slowly start getting longer again so I can be outside most of the day/evening.

PinkOboe · 04/08/2019 23:04

Winter is coming

Winter drawers on! (Snigger)

RosaWaiting · 04/08/2019 23:12

Not in London it’s not. We’ve got a while to go! I’m looking forward to it.

buttertoasty · 04/08/2019 23:50

Yes I have really noticed it past couple of days. Summer drawing to an end thank god. Love the cold and dark months.

herbsmokedchicken · 04/08/2019 23:53

Normally I’m absolutely gutted to see the days getting shorter, i live by a beach and adore summer. But I got dumped a couple of weeks ago so I’m pretty much desperate for summer to be over because by that point I’ll hopefully be feeling like an actual person again.
We swim well into October here though, we drag summer out for as long as possible.

EnidButton · 04/08/2019 23:57

"Eee, the nights're drawin in lass."

I like it too. I can practically smell Autumn. I don't like the very long dark nights of mid-winter so much but cosy crisp Autumn, yes.

Gilead · 04/08/2019 23:59

Been organising my jumpers, lovely!

AnyFucker · 05/08/2019 00:04

I like the imbetween seasons best of all

Late summer is fine. No strength left in the sun and already have a tan so no pressure to bake in the heat. Evenings still light enough to read a book with a glass of wine in the garden. Mornings dtill light enouhh to mot be going to work in the dark.

No socks, coats, central heating, hot water bottles required

I saw a Christmas magazine in the supermarket today.....

EnidButton · 05/08/2019 00:08

Me too. Spring and Autumn are the best seasons imo. Although the only season I don't have a hot water bottle is Summer and even then it comes out in cooler nights. Blush

ExpletiveDelighted · 05/08/2019 06:41

Me too, late spring and early autumn (April/May and September) are my favourite times of year. Moderate temperatures, evenings and mornings light, sandals, no coats required, perfect.

Silvercatowner · 05/08/2019 06:46

My hostas are getting frilly. Definitely a sign autumn is on the way.

bumblingbovine49 · 05/08/2019 06:56

June was terrible weather this year. We had about 3 weeks of constant rain and.cool weather. July I will give you was pretty hot with two very hot days ( here anyway). August seems set to be quite normal, humid and overcast a lot with some rain and weather temps in the low 20s so fine.

.

I loathe the nights drawing in. The flu season will be starting soon and we will have to start thinking about flu jabs.
The threads on here will change from lots of complaints about the heat to complaints about flu bugs, vomiting bugs ( as school goes.back) etc. I know which one I prefer

Boyskeepswinging · 05/08/2019 07:08

First day getting up in the dark today ... that came around quicker than expected! But really looking forward to feeling less hot overnight.

ScreamingValenta · 05/08/2019 07:11

I was thinking this morning how dark it was when I woke up at 5am.

Mokepon · 05/08/2019 07:20

OP, you have summed up my feelings about season changes perfectly.
I like the long days and light evenings but hate the light and heat at night.
Autumn is definitely my favourite time of year.

ClashCityRocker · 05/08/2019 07:31

I feel around this time of year until October is when the balance between daylight and night is most optimal. And maybe march/April too.

It does get depressing going home in the dark and going out in the dark in the morning, but I prefer that to the four or five hours of proper dark in the mid-summer.

thesunwillout · 05/08/2019 10:22

I wish we'd had some of the heat, it's felt like an autumn chill for weeks.
