21 month old has started just throwing food on the floor. Ive made salmon, meatballs, sweet potatoes, spag bol etc all the be thrown on the food. Do i let him have toast so he doesnt go hungry or leave him until he starts eating?

Look at it over the course of a day, not that meal in isolation. IF you want to offer an alternative later do, but don’t make it a favourite food or anything too exciting. Keep offering the variety at meal times though.

I think at this age I first picked it off the floor and offered it again. Then if she did it again that was the meal over. Didn’t make a big production of it, just wiped her up and let her get down. She had a cup of milk before bed so I didn’t really worry about her being too hungry overnight but sometimes I’d offer toast or cereal before bed.
It does get easier once you can —bribe them— reason with them a bit. The throwing phases are soooo irritating though. Could try offering smaller portions. At least then it’s less mess to clear up and less satisfying for them to Chuck...

If he’s actually asking for food at bedtime
I’d give him something plain, but if you’re just worried about him waking; I’d leave it and see what happens. I find once they’re good sleepers they’re fine- it’s only if they’re waking anyway and realise they’re hungry that it causes problems.

He will eat toast all day long but i want him to have more variety than that
