Need some help with ideas at home! I have a very active 14 month old. We're out most days but need some ideas for our days at home.

We currently; Read books, play with instruments, sing songs, imaginative play with toys.

Cant think of anything else. Would appreciate any suggestions

Could try big paint brushes and water to 'paint' fences/walls? This is surprisingly good fun. probably a bit young.

Paddling pool. All about the process at this age, ie the filling up. actually playing in it = approx 30 secs.

Ball of string and then chairs/garden furniture/ladders - tying them up into a big machine can be fun.

Water painting if it’s a nice day. Bowl of water, paint brush and patio. Hours of fun.

My little one also loves water play cleaning toys.

Sensory play - flour in a large tray with a few toy cars. Not too messy.

Big cardboard box. Decorating, playing in the ‘train’, hiding etc.

Also Goggle Busy Bags.

Pinterest is great for this. I have a 12 month old and we do

Plastic balls in a muffin tin (fun to put them back in the holes)
Magnetic letters on a baking tray
Stick some loo roll tubes to the wall and drop pom poms through them

At that age I’d never do a full day at home they are much harder work than when out and about. They will often ‘help’ with putting on washing sweeping the floor wiping surfaces and the bathrooms. Pinterest has loads of ideas to keep them entertained;
Threading Cheerios onto pipe cleaners and the like, corn flour, play doh, painting, sensory play with rice and lentils, pouring water and sensory stuff, sand
You’ll probably only get 10-15 mins out of each activity if you’re lucky.

Perfect age for a treasure basket ( You can do a shortcut version wherever you are by giving them 2 or 3 things made of natural materials which are to hand), Tissue box filled with bits of cloth to pull out, foil emergency blanket

My DD always enjoyed it when I sat her on the kitchen counter beside our spice rack and gave her each of the herbs and spices in turn to smell. (obviously standing right in front of her with my arms around her and didn't leave her for even a second)

pop up people (loved by all little ones and end up being played with everywhere), magnetic fishing, Threading toy, play dough, slide, pop up tunnel, fridge magnets (any picture ones for now, like farm animals, vehicles) electric cog magnets are amazing, but perhaps for a slightly older child

If you have a garden, get one if those plastic little tykes activity gyms (slide with something to climb up).

I tried 'washing lines' with my nearly 1 year old and he enjoys it. Tie a string to something low down e.g. one end to a table leg and one end to a low down drawer handle and get some pegs and bits to hang such as socks, flannels etc. The game is hanging stuff up and taking it down and tipping all the pegs out of the basket!

Tent & tunnel. Put them up indoors, get DS to put all his toys in the tent through the tunnel. Watch DS fall asleep inside the tent surrounded by toys. Relax!
