We’re away next week half board and hot. Also in a hotel today and remembered how DH can happily miss meals as I’ve made myself tea and biscuits for ‘lunch’. I turn into a weedy weakly weepy wreck if I go for more than half an hour without food, it’ll be boiling hot, but we’ll be 5, all adults, so really don’t want to sit down and eat expensively every day. So... what can I take which will male catering in the room doable without annoying the hotel? We have massive luggage allowance so will take kettle and picnic hamper- what else?

Also, in a lot of supermarkets in resort they have fresh baguette counters where they will make you a baguette to your liking, really cheaply.
Also try and find out where the locals buy their lunch, we have found fantastic patisseries, pizza takeaway and sandwich shops tucked down back streets.

Won’t you be able to take things from the breakfast buffet to have through the day

That's a bit cheeky fucker and the hotels may stop you from taking food from the breakfast room.

I'd definitely get supplies to have cheese baguettes or similar or have a big ice cream, slice of pizza or whatever for lunch.

Cheeky fucker? That’s a bit strong. Depending on the hotel, many expect people to do it.

I could and might take stuff from the breakfast bar but I’d rather not. Lots of good tips here, thank you. I’ll go prepared and report back.

I'd get a banana or other peices of fruit off the breakfast bar to snak on, then go to the local supermarket, get some drinks and packs of crisps and biscuits, maybe grab a bagette and some ham and cheese slices just enough for lunch each day.
Take a sharp knife to cut the bread in your checked luggage and a couple of tea towels and plastic plates/cups to use on the balcony.
