Mobile hairdresser stole very expensive headphones from house. What should I do?

I'm so angry and upset. They were my son's only birthday present. I'd never used a mobile hairdresser before and found her card in a local coffee shop. Stupidly I left the room for no more than 1 minute. We realised they were missing this morning and have searched high and low. He isn't allowed to take them out of the house so could not have gone missing out side. What can I do?

Are you in the UK Angelasashes I can't see if you can get one in the UK

Readytogogogo · 03/08/2019 14:54

OP, no matter how responsible you think your son is, it's far more likely that he is responsible than that they were taken by someone who relies on being trusted in people's homes for their living.

Disagree with readytogogo. My poor nan had loads of jewellery, garden stuff etc nicked by carers. They didn't give a shit.

If the mobile hairdresser hadn't been there and they went missing, where would you assume they are?

I had a neighbour who was always turning her house upside down looking for missing things and insinuating that they'd been taken, then a week later the item would be back and she wouldnt even remember where it had been found 🙄

If it were me, I would be saying to my DS how awful the hairdresser pinched them and how you are going to shame her everywhere, and she'll probably lose all her customers ..... and watch his face. You'll know if your DS is lying

p.s. I don't suggest you shame the hairdresser by the way, just say it and see how your son reacts

Mobile hairdressing is quite competitive so I doubt she would risk her reputation on nicking a pair of used headphones.

The boy has either broken them and is too scared to tell you, taken them out of the home and had them taken off him or lost them or swapped or sold them.

Thank you @angelasashes , I will look into those, I wasn't aware of that kind of feature.

Did they turn up, OP? Did you confront the cleaner?
