I have recently had a sleep study done at home and have received a appointment to go back and discuss the results
However it is requesting I have a blood test for a few things and I am v confused and worried as she never mentioned I would need this
I am absolutely terrified something is really very wrong now
Has anyone had this after a sleep study test ?

Ok, well let’s this chalk this up to ha and wait for the results?.

Thyroid and diabetes can both go un-detected for years so testing is better than not testing and if either is positive it’s better for you know and be treated than not.

As long as you don’t take the piss with the body ie smoker/drinker/live on McDonald’s the chances of any of us getting serious illness is slim, not impossible but slim. Everything is else is luck and genetics which we can’t control.

Yep non smoker and non drinker here
Diet isn't the best sometimes but not the worst either
Could be improved :)
Thanks it probably is just ruling things out associated with sleep apnea

FBC = Full blood count
Electro = Electrolytes - a measure of salts and kidney function
LFT = Liver function test
TFT = Thyroid function test
Gluc = Glucose

These are all very standard tests, routinely done and give doctors an idea of how you are.

I just panicked about why they needed it done as this wasn't mentioned to me and the letter doesn't say and whether it was standard with possible sleep apnea to need these

They are standard tests and if you were presenting as an overweight person with extreme tiredness I would have thought your GP would have done these way before a sleep clinic referral.

I think the sleep clinic would have expected that as a matter of routine so have requested them. You are way over thinking it, routine blood tests shouldn't panic you. I would be more concerned about the sleep apnoea.

Thank you :)
I am concerned about the possible apnea
Just waiting for next appointment now to discuss my sleep study results

I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea after struggling with being exhausted for a long, long time.

CPAP has changed my life! I used to put the toddler to bed and fall asleep at the same time every night. I was always asleep but always tired tooSad

Now I'm full of energy again and just joined a gym yesterday!Grin

If you DO have sleep apnea (and you might not), it's a good thing because there is actually effective treatment out there for it x

My symptoms are
Snoring
Feeling groggy in the morning but fine the rest of the day
Waking up gasping occasionally

How do you find using the CPAP?
Was it a easy adjustment?

My toddler goes to bed at 7.30-8 and I follow her shortly at 9pm and regularly sleep until 7am which is quite a lot of sleep for a adult isn't it

OP posts:

For me I adapted to the CPAP quite easily, but I know some people don't get on with them.
Yes that's a lot of sleep, but it might not necessarily be good quality sleep!
Let us know how you get on x

I think there are also other things they can try to treat it, such as a mouth guard thing.
