Best vaginal/vulva(?) wipes/soap for getting rid of odour and keeping moist and pH balanced?

I mean external washing (not douching etc) - please recommend ones you've tried that have worked (esp if you tend to have a bit of an odour (fishy) probably as a result of bv (all cures for bv only work temporarily for me, so at this point I just want a quick cover-up) but hopefully not something that dries out the area/causes pH imbalances.

Thank you

miss I only use water! I shower daily (twice on gym or generally sweaty days) and have never fluffed my foof with anything other than water.
All of these creams/gels/wipes just look like a way of extracting money out of women for made up problems to me 🤷🏼‍♀️

YesQueen · 03/08/2019 15:18

Water only for me but I have to use hibiscrub in my groin crease (where your leg joins your body) so I'm v v careful as I don't want to be sloshing that everywhere!

CakeNinja · 03/08/2019 15:18

Sorry op, I don’t mean that you are making up your smell issue, I do believe that people have problems with this, what I meant was that in general I think all these ‘feminine hygiene products’ are a manufacturers wet dream. People flock round and decide they need to do this, that and the other when usually all that’s needed is water.
Unless you’ve got an infection etc in which case this will either rectify itself in time or the doctor will prescribe something.

"The people who just use water, do you have pubic hair and if so, do you wash your pubic hair with just water?"

You do realize that having pubic hair is normal don't you?

LesLavandes · 03/08/2019 16:16

There is a product/wash by Sebamed. It is called something like feminine wash. Try it available on Amazon.

I rate all their products

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 03/08/2019 16:24

The smell that you are talking about, if it is constant is to do with you not being able to metabolise certain types of food.

I don’t remember what they are, but you need to see a doctor who will tell you.

Actually I’ve just googled it here
www.nhs.uk/conditions/trimethylaminuria/

CatPunsFreakMeowt · 03/08/2019 16:24

Definitely go back to your GP and don’t be fobbed off. Ask for a referral to gynae if necessary. You shouldn’t have any noticeable odour to cover up if there’s no underlying infections/ imbalances.

Catalicious · 03/08/2019 16:34

Leave your bits alone and get proper medical treatment.

There are no good wipes at all.

Boulezvous · 03/08/2019 18:09

Folks sorry, but what is BV? I have this problem and only use water.

Doubleraspberry · 03/08/2019 18:25

Water is quite effective at washing pubic hair as well as a vulva.

Bacterial vaginosis

Another vote for multi-gyn actigel, formerly biofem. It is fantastic stuff. I use femfresh (not the basic one), in the shower if I want to shave that area as any kind of shaving foam usually leaves me with weird discharge (tmi).

No sign of the OP since posting. Hmm.

keep a healthy balance of fauna

Whether the OP is legit or not, this made me howl. I'm finding the badgers a bit itchy, but the rabbits are lovely and soft..

OddBoots · 03/08/2019 22:11

I know water is what is recommended but I get on better with baby wash.

None of our hair needs any sort of soap to clean it. Many people don’t shampoo the hair on their head! Cleaning products, even plain soap, are sold to us for profit but are often entirely pointless. Hair has oil in it that keeps it healthy.

Water will wash off any sort of dirt. It’s likely if you have showers with shower gel or soap that some of the residue goes through your pubic hair in any case. Imperial Leather is pretty harsh stuff!

Thanks everyone so far. Issue is I've been to the GP and gyno with this issue, when they were doing the smear test. They just said it's fairly common and sounds like BV and there's no permanent cure to it and just told me not to douche etc (I've never douched anyway).

It's kinda like IBS.. they regard it almost just an inconvenience rather than a chronic illness and no one really knows exactly how to cure either IBS or BV permanently.

Drink a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar once a week or so; wipe your vagina ONCE only with apple cider vinegar, then leave it alone, I.e. wash it with Water only.

Kiwiinkits · 05/08/2019 03:20

IBS and bv are both gut bacteria- related. Drink raw milk, drink fermented drinks like kombucha, take some apple cider vinegar from time to time. All good actions for gut health.

Fantail · 05/08/2019 05:36

Water only. When I’ve used wipes is when I got bad thrush.

I’ve had BV once and was given antibiotics. I know that they often leave it, but I have T1 diabetes and they tend to treat bacterial infections as they have a knock on effect to blood sugar levels.

Speaking of which, have you had blood sugar tested? Fungal and bacterial infections can be a symptom of high blood sugar levels.

Passthecherrycoke · 05/08/2019 05:48

I would maybe go to the GP for a stand alone appointment about this?

However whilst no one with any sense washes their vagina, it’s perfectly normal to wash your pubic area with whatever you happen to be washing the rest of your body with. It doesnt enter your vagina as a PP suggested it might Hmm
