Has anyone let out a car parking space on Just Park or similar?

If so, how have you found it?

We live near to an airport & station so are considering letting out a space on our drive.

If it's rented regularly it would bring in around £150 a month.. we have plenty of space for another car so seems worthwhile.

Just wondering if it's hassle free or are we opening ourselves up to a lot of problems.. anyone done it (or used a similar scheme)?

I've never rented my drive, no one would want to park where we live. But I have used just park many times and never had any bother with them from a customer point of view.

Parking spaces always as described and easy to find due to the photo being on the booking. Website easy to use. Once I had to contact them as I accidentally booked the wrong day and their customer service was really helpful. I always recommend them to people.

Someone I know rents their drive out near the local hospital. There is never any parking so people are desperate for spaces nearby. They advertised on Facebook and have a nurse who pays £5 a day. It would cost her at least £15 at the hospital. They don't do it through an organisation like Just Park just by themselves.

Just thinking though, if you live near a station, what does parking at the station cost and does it get full up?

Before going down the just park route, maybe an add on your local Facebook or gumtree might get you a regular commuter year round.

Thanks XYZ..

The station car park is full to season ticket holders. There are advantages for letting to a regular commuter...

I rented my space out through just park as we live near a football ground that also hosts concerts during the summer. We only really got customers for the concerts not the regular matches so we gave up in the end as it wasnt worth the hassle for a few days a year. I would try and find a regular commuter.

I let my managers daughter park for free on my drive. She cats sits for me in return. She's really good though and lives miles away so I do pay her, although my boss said she'd do it for free.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/08/2019 22:11

It hadn't occurred to me to charge her, it doesn't affect me at all.

We let friends use the drive for free as and when they want to get the train into town, but thinking I could make money from another additional space that cab into kids savings etc.

Seems an easy option if it really is straightforward.

It's a great way of making extra cash....you also get a reduction on your council tax too. We've been doing it for some time and it pays for family holidays. Good luck.

bbcessex · 03/08/2019 07:21

That's interesting Jupiter, how does the discount work?

Presumably you’d have to make sure a paying car didn’t block your own car in your drive (or a visitor)

ParanoidPinky · 03/08/2019 08:06

I have used it as a customer and it was completely hassle free. Good to have photos of your drive and a clearer description of which house is yours. A friend of mine used this service near an airport, parked up easily, got on the plane and off she went... however she had accidentally parked on the wrong driveway and was away for a fortnight Blush

Munchietime · 03/08/2019 08:37

How do you get a discount on council tax? Sounds unlikely and Google doesn't come up with anything.

We've been renting ours for years. We have one car and a large driveway and are a 1 minute walk from a tube station.

I think I would probably go for a regular commuter rather than someone random going on holiday as then you can make sure that they always park considerately rather than in a rush to get to the airport. You could also then rent it mon-fri and still have space for friends at the weekend. Have used just park and it was very straightforward.
