Launderette etiquette

Following on from a previous post from me, I'm now at caravan site with a laundrette.

All the machines are taken but two have finished. Is it rude to empty them and put my load in? They've only finished in the last 10mins and I can afford to wait a wee bit for the person to come back.

Genuinely just asking if it's ok for me to empty or not? I'm not going to risk offending someone by unloading their knickers when I'm enjoying the peace and quiet as DH is entertaining DD Grin

I think that is a no no, sorry you just have to wait. Which is a pain in the ass, but there you go....

I think its fine to be honest they shouldn't leave if they don't want to have that happen obviously do it respectfully and don't screw their stuff up or something

I think it's fine to empty them provided there is a basket or something where you can put their clothes neatly.

Just dumping them on a bench or whatever would be rude.

Yes . Normally there are baskets to put the clothes in . I would

Typical. The two ladies came back there within mins of each other and were mortified that I'd waited, said I should have emptied their stuff out. No harm done. The peace was nice. Shame I didn't have a cuppa with me

Not sure where the campsite is, but the ones I've been to around mainland Europe, it's normal to take clothes out if the owners don't come back. Lots of sites have signs up telling you not to leave clothes in the machine once finished.

If the owners have left a bag or basket on top of the machine, use that. If not, there should be a bench or table or something if the laundrette don't provide baskets.

Back in my renting / laundrette days, it was fine to empty a washer so long as you put the washload into a basket and didn't just dump it onto the floor or a seat, and made sure you'd removed all their washing from the machine before loading.
