Can I ask what job you do if your a single mum and work part time? I've been really looking forward to going back to work in September, but I'm finding it really hard to find a job that fits school hours, I don't have anyone to help me with pick up and drop offs and my DCs school doesn't offer breakfast club or after-school club, and as a result of that all of the childminders in the local area are booked up. I feel like I've built myself up to be really excited about going back to work and I found a job that I would absolutely love to do, in an area I'm really interested in, but I just can't manage around school hours as it's 22 hours a week, just wondering what everyone else does

I work 2.5 days a week for the local authority. 2 pre school age children, 1 starting school in Sept. Parents help out with child care, also both go to pre school. I pay for the younger. It's bloody hard. It's not in school hours, much longer days.

Mine are both school age, ds is 7 and dd is 4 starting in sept, I have no family or friends to help, I'm currently living in temp accommodation due to being made homeless, I just want a good job to better my families life, I Feel so fed up as I've found mr dream job but I just don't know how it's possible without help with the dc!

I work part time and have done for the last 7 years. My parents help out with child care after work and I'm home by dinner time. I work as a care assistant. It's hard when it comes to holidays and at times I've had to ask friends for help.

A lot of employers will try to accommodate the hours you need to avoid child care. Also working in a school means you will get the same holidays.

I've been keeping my eye out for school vacancies! None have come up yet but I think that will be a good option for me

You'll also probably be eligible for universal credits and they will help you a lot financially as you won't have to work so many hours.
