As per title really. Which production, in your opinion, offers the best combination of impact, entertainment, fidelity to the text and price?

No he definitely wasn’t 1066. Surely if he’d played such a significant role for a whole year it would appear in his CV.

I don't like the Polanski version and prefer the Patrick Stewart one but it would be class dependent using that one.

The RSC/Globe Live ones are good. I much prefer showing a recording of the play rather than a film.

Maqbool with Irfan Khan. It’s one of the most relevant, entertaining, true to the spirit rather than just the text versions of Macbeth I have ever seen.

Chris was Dr Who Tardis
He left because he thought the production team/schedule sucked
He was proud of the work but does not do conventions and did not do the reunion - am not surprised he left it off his cv if it rankles.

Christopher Ecclestone resigned from Dr Who before the revived series even started. Billie Piper was his assistant. Obviously Christopher Ecclestone didn't enjoy being the Doctor.

As to your original question OP, the Shakespeare Retold series was interesting. The Macbeth story with James McAvoy and Keeley Hawes was enjoyable (as long as pupils don't start referringto Macbeth as a chef Hmm)
Full movie on the tube of you (1.26)

The Kenneth Branagh one from the Gorton Monastery was excellent.

Yes he defo was Dr Who thought he was good

For the avoidance of doubt, yes I was joking. I was simply amused by the fact that he’d left by far the most famous role of his career off his cv. And he was bloody good in it too: it’s not like Thor 2 which frankly should be denied by all concerned apart from the scen.

(Apart from the EmoLoki scene)

Before it was broadcast yes, then was thrown under the bus as 'not wanting to be typecast' when the truth was that he hated the schedule (they were always playing catch up in the filming of his series) and bullying by the director to junior staff.

The Edinburgh fringe production of MacHomer was fab Wink
Homer Simpson was Macbeth, Marge Simpson was Lady Macbeth, Mr. Burns was King Duncan, Ned Flanders was Banquo and Barney Gumble was Macduff all voiced by Rick Miller.
