Birthday present ideas for 5 year old obsessed with numbers?

Any ideas? My mind is blank.

Ds is going to be 5 in a couple of weeks. He has HF ASD and is obsessed with maths, numbers, timers/countdowns etc

He's always setting timers in my phone and wants to know exactly how many minutes things are going to take. I've ordered him a stop watch & a till with money from learning resources but I wondered if anyone had any other ideas?

Thanks!

The Sumaze! Primary app is free and fab, needn’t wait for his birthday to get him playing!

Times tables rockstars is a great app and only a few pounds to get as a parent. Lots of schools start it in Year 1.

When my numbers obsesses ds waa that age he loved suduku, there was a cbeebies programme called Numberjacks about maths that he loved but a dont think would do the spin off toys for it anymore. He had a magnetic calendar that he changed every day.

Have you seen Prodigy? It's an online maths game where you solve maths questions to progress through the game and you can play for free (or upgrade to a membership). It assesses the player's level and gives them appropriately pitched questions. My son loves it and it's really helped me to get a handle on where he is doing well and what he could work on as you get a report and detailed breakdown of what they've been doing.

Without wanting to recommend excessive screen time, has he seen Numberblocks? It's on CBeebies at the moment, but the DVDs are available quite cheaply. Each episode is only 5 minutes long.

My son is 7, has always been fascinated by numbers, and loves Numberblocks. He's too old to 'need' to watch them for learning purposes, but they're so endearing and so well done. The songs are catchy and well written and performed - I often find myself randomly singing them too Blush Grin

This looks cool: [https://www.cheapdisabilityaids.co.uk/mega-timer-15196-p.asp Mega Timer]

There are some other time related things on that website.

Happy Puzzle Co.’s ‘Puzzlington’ involves creating train/ road tracks that add to a total with certain limitations on numbers of tiles. It might be a bit easy for him though if he is especially advanced.

EugenesAxe · 04/08/2019 22:51

Sorry Mega Timer

Do not buy anything from cheapdisabilityaids.co.uk unless you want to lose your money - they are notorious for appalling customer service!

I have just got my friends DD an abacus, it wooden with all different colours on it. She loved it .

EugenesAxe · 05/08/2019 17:40

Oh sorry MyBird; I didn’t know this.

ScorchioScorchio · 05/08/2019 19:40

Rumikub and Yahtzee. A couple of decks of cards (and search online for the rules for games like Newmarket or Sevens). Perudo/Liar Dice (or just search for the rules online and buy a cheap set of the dice from Amazon, like I did).

Bobbindobbin · 05/08/2019 19:58

Very random but my number obsessed boy adored tape measures at that age. He measured everything!

igivein · 05/08/2019 20:04

Google The Happy Puzzle Company (sorry can’t do links).
They’ll keep you busy until dc leaves primary school!

UNO is a fab numbers game
