Wooden flooring or Karndean (or similar)?

I would love to put white ash wood (engineered) down in kitchen diner/hallway but thinking this is going to be totally impractical - heart says wood but head says go for a Karndean substitute (3 dcs including 2 young ones).

Engineered wood is not the sensible option but for some reason I am resisting the thought of a more man made material substitute.

Anyone else made this sort of decision - what did you go for in the end?

Thanks Sleepless. As another piece of engineered floor sample has failed the spillage test, think it is going to have to be Karndean or similar - could you let me know what shade you went for because I am desperate for some inspiration and may have overlooked something. I want something understated - kitchen units are dark grey so nothing too dark and nothing with an orange tone. If by any chance anyone happens to have a similar kitchen colour please send a link of your flooring (or p.m me if you prefer).

It was the art select range, I am not sure of the actual colour. I will try to attach a photo.

I have engineered wood in my kitchen and living area.
Never again.
It really needs to be well cared for particularly if you have children and pets.
It hasnt worn well at all.
The chairs have scratched ithe floor very badly - my fault as I should have put protectors on the base of the legs of the chairs.

It will be Amtico or Karndean or similar the next time I replace the floor.

Thanks bean, although this is something that I don't want to hear, I think it is something that I need to hear so that I don't always regret not buying engineered wood. Sorry about your poor floor by the way x

We also have polyflor, half the price of amtico/ karndean. It has good eco credentials and be wary of leeching chemicals into the air from engineered floors - polyflor publish test results demonstrating their safety in this regard.

We have Amtico and love it. It's not cold underfoot, is quick and easy to clean and despite the best efforts of a dog and 3 kids, it hasnt scratched.

I have Karnedean (slate tile) in my bathroom and about to have a wood effect one installed in my bedroom. I went with the Arctic Driftwood as it looks a bit different.
Have to say I'm very pleased with the Karndean in the bathroom, no scratches or anything, easy to clean and warm underfoot in the winter. It's been in for 5 years now and looks like new.

Quick Step flooring is really nice. Soft underfoot and hardwearing

I'm looking somethjng for my Living room & hall & veering towards laminate as not keen on the other options. Have engineered floor in new kitchen & looks lovely but a bit raw & mop catches on it sometimes.
